Promoting your core business

Hi Guys,

I have a friend who's a really talented sound technician. He has a small studio that specialises in post production sound design. He has a strong educational background which is relevant to the field, he's very talented and regularly posts engaging content on his youtube channel which has attracted professionals related to the recording scene.

I see a lot of people come onto this forum asking how to make money, live the laptop lifestyle etc without a CORE BUSINESS. This guy has a core business so I'd be interested to hear how you guys would promote him. His goals are:

1) To get more paid work for his studios (focusing on sound for movies at present).

2) Leverage said paid work to increase his visibility to large studios who will hopefully invest in his services/employ him.

Interested to hear your thoughts.

Best,
Vision

well if he has a fan base on youtube, then scale that with paid youtube ads on targets that are relevant to his business...

as for B2B, why not reach out and directly contact them..

I imagine he has services they need.

Best of luck to your friend,

Well he already has a product/service. The next step would be to get to know his market well; find out what their goals are. Then if can match those goals with what he can offer its really just a matter of reaching these people with some effective advertising and promotion.

I know that sounds a bit simplistic but it really does boil down to something like that.

Can he deliver big-budget movie-quality sound on a budget? That could be one appeal to prospective clients. Perhaps he can reach out to independent film makers; use them as a vehicle to get some visibility.

I know its not much mate, sorry. Hope it helps some.

If your friend setting up affiliate partnerships?

He might also consider ensuring he is working on his own brand and he has a solid range of information on both himself and his business online.

Is his LinkedIn profile up to date, does he regularly share and contribute as an influencer in both his industry and across entertainment industry trade media.

I would guess that in his industry WOM marketing is key, so ensuring that all of his current customers are aware he is looking for new projects to work on could be a good idea, networking and building relationships by being proactive and setting up meetings with film studios could also help.

Sharing quality content via LinkedIn is a great way for him to build credibility with his target audience

The key is to attract a person who can make the right introductions

Snagging that person is the hardest part...

Linkedin is the best place to start

    the best money is this:

"increase his visibility to large studios"

because once he's in, they will book him again

he should contact the ones he's interested in directly
and offer them xx of free hours to try him out - without any obligations!

    that should do the trick

stuff like this you cannot do online, you have to become personal,
sure sending a proposal by email CAN work [with x follow ups]

but phone calls work better [most of the time]

let him try it , and let me know how long it took to get his first client
