Should We Be Doing All This Work??

Just been flicking through the stats of all my mini sites traffic results and something just hit me like a ton of bricks.

Should we really have to do all the SEO, Article Marketing, Link Wheel, Thirst Quenching work to make some dollars?

Why am I asking this ... I'll tell you

I have a couple of sites that get a good amount of hits every single day (1 gets 200 and the other 150) and as a result make me a decent amount of cash each and every month (about $60 between them both) without fail. In fact one of them has being doing this for over two years.

But here's the thing ...

I have not written one article, submitted to one directory or bookmarked either of these sites EVER!

In fact my promotional activity for both has been absolutely ZERO.

So I am thinking what is it about these babies that keep them going.

My conclusion are simply this ...

Good domain names - I researched the niches well and purchased great domain names containing good phrases. The busiest site end in .biz but the name is a really hot key phrase.

Absolutely 100% Unique - The content on every single page is unique and contains just over 500 words

Optimised - overall both sites are very well optimised i.e. page names, alt tags, header 1 and all that stuff.

Think about it if two can make me a regular $60 thats $30 each ten will make me $300 a hundred $3000 ... all I do is just keep building.

I may just try build a few more like this (got one that has gone live today) and just leave it up there to see what happens.

In fact the only action I will take with one launched today is to verify it with a google site map and submit it manually to all of the major SE's.

If this works I may as well spend my efforts creating sites like this than getting caught up in lots and lots traffic generation activity

Sure, optimizing your sites can bring traffic on its own, but article marketing, backlink building, etc. brings more traffic. More traffic = more money. Sure it's more work......but I'm willing to do more work for more money. Personal decision I guess, up to you to decide how much work you want to put in.

That's the beauty of working for yourself, in my opinion..........YOU decide how much to work, not somebody else.

I get really excited to hear about things that generate true residual passive income such as your two sites. The fact that you haven't done anything to a site for two years and it still makes you some change is awesome.

I feel ya, OP. On a lark (this was back in 2003) and to get my dang wife on my back about it, I put up a site about some chick stuff. It bored me to tears, but she was adamant. Whatta ya gonna do? Fuggedaboutit. So I did it.

It was maybe 40 pages, all unique content, all based on related keywords.

Then I moved on and didn't even think about it anymore. Literally. It had Adsense on it. That was the only thing that could potentially have made any money.

Like 3 months later, I was checking my Adsense stats (which I used to do about 453,102 times a day back when Adsense was still new). All of a sudden there was about $25 more each day showing up. I could not for the life of me figure out where it was coming from. I checked every site EXCEPT the chickified one that I hadn't even thought about for weeks. Sure enough.

Man, the wife to this freaking DAY won't let that one go. Women.

Yeah, don't you just hate it when we're right?

I think the key here is choosing good keywords and writing quality content with some decent SEO. That is the minimum. Do more (more content, backlinks, etc.) and you may get better results. Sometimes it's worth it, sometimes not.

I find that the complete package works best for me.. and with a good portion of outsourcing, the working isn't too much. Sure, it's not the easiest way in the world.. but it's fun, relatively easy and a darn sight easier than slaving away..

    Peace
