Hi Warriors~

I was told to come to this site to find work - I'm a freelance writer...but it just seems like posts and threads to me. My first time here, am I missing something? Can someone explain a bit to me if you have time?
Thanks!

    Welcome!

This isn't like a job board where people post jobs that they have. Rather, it's a place where you can advertise your services, but....

You need to be an active member of the group to do that. Join the conversation. Poke your nose around a bit to get a feel for what we're about (making money on the web). After you've been a member for awhile, you can post a classified ad or a WSO (Warrior Special Offer) to advertise your services.

If you're looking for regular work, you may want to check out Demand Studios. I don't work for them, but I've heard good things about them.

Freelance Writing Jobs is another good place to find jobs, but a lot of writers know about it and I suspect that competition is fierce.

Other sites where you might find gigs are:
Elance | Hire experts to do your work: outsource to companies, consultants and freelance professionals.
Outsource to Freelancers, IT Companies, Programmers, Web Designers from India, Russia, USA, and more - oDesk
Rent A Coder: How Software Gets Done -- Home of the worlds' largest number of completed software projects

    Good luck!

    Love,
    Shannon

    Hi Htxwriting,

You can thank the person referring you to this great forum. I have been learning and posting on here for several years now. As a writer, I have found many clients by becoming an active part of this community. At first glance it may look like posts and threads but believe me, behind those words are real people. Those people become part of your business network fast if you are open to the opportunities here.

Begin by letting us know who you are by asking questions as you have done and also by answering questions posted by others if you are able to do that.

    Good luck to you.

    Listen.

The best way to get high paying work is to specialize. There is way too many
"ghostwriters" if you just go out there and promote yourself as a "general ghostwriter"
you're going to be competing against WAY to many people.

Many of which will be in economic environments that make it sustainable to write for $1 an article.

So find some niche that has alot of demand. You train yourself up and become a sales copywriter, a newsletter writer, a blog post writer etc. Now go and get your services
in front of people who matter.

I would reccomend approaching successful people and offering to work for free, deliver an amazing service. You'll start to get testimonials and build a portfolio. In the freelance business your portfolio and client base is everything.

Once you have this you can start building a brand for yourself. Get your own website, get on the freelancing websites, post some WSO's and market yourself however you can. In this case promotion is your friend.

Eventually your income will start off small, maybe a little cash every now and again. But if you keep at it and build your name up, I promise you'll start to grow big.

Soon you'll get so much work you just need to hire someone else under you

    Good luck!
