Advice for a newcomer please

Hi there, I am due to be made redundant from my job of the last 15 years. I have been employed in the civil service, so my brain is now dead. I plan to return to education but i will also need some form of income and I was hoping the internet would provide the answer. I would greatly appreciate any advice and tips anyone may have. Where is the best place to learn the processes involved?

I am currently a carer for my elderly father, this means the business would have to be home based or easily mobile

I was a very frequent visitor to Thailand until my father took ill earlier this year. Now that redundancy has forced my hand, I guess ideally some day I would love to easily transport the running my of online business to there and other parts of Asia/The world. I bet that's a dream well all have in common :-)

I have also read the advert for the private section of the forum. Would you recommend joining?

Thanks for all your replies :-)

As somebody that makes money in over 20 niches, I would agree with NzSocializer and tell anyone new to focus on ONE niche... at least until they know what they are doing and are making money.

If you really need to make this happen, then IMMERSE yourself in learning marketing and take MASSIVE action on the things you learn.

You have no shot of making this real if you treat it as a hobby, or a "I hope so."

Before I offer up some advice, may I ask a few questions.

When you say you will return to education, what does that mean? You are going back to school for learning something new or do you have a background in education?

An Internet business can be operated from anywhere in the world. My friend, Dien Rice, lives in Australia and is visiting the USA as I type. He has written a book on many business opportunities. You can check it out at Secret Business Ideas and maybe find something that interests you.

Dien Rice is a Ph.D. physicist who gave up a cushy job at a university to start a business. He has traveled the far East, taught English in Korea and operates several businesses from his notebook computer.

The War Room is very affordable, and when you do join, be sure to send for my free report on HOTSHEETS, only one good idea acted upon is what you need.

Off the top of the head, you might make a great ESCORT for tourists/business people who are going to Thailand. Do you speak the language? You might create a members only web site about it, or set up travel tours, or even become an affiliate for a travel agent that makes and or books trips to Thailand.

Take time to THINK about what you want to do, what would be the ideal situation for you to pursue. Imagine sitting on the beach of Krabi observing the beautiful sunset, sipping a cool drink, notebook in your lap, and you check your bank account and see another big check has been deposited from your auto pilot Internet business.

I feel the most important thing is the CHOICE of which business or money making venture you do, that it matches up to your personality and your likes and dislikes.

    Good luck.

Hello there. Thanks for your replies. Ive had no one offering anything in my inbox yet. I would much prefer if all offers were made in the open forum as me being a total newbie I do now want to be taken advantage off :-)

I will be returning to education to complete a degree. I studied to Higher Diploma level before I jacked it in.

The only Niche I can say I have any experiece in is that I have been a member and moderator on a number of bodybuilding forums for years. But I have never considered turning it into a money making scheme. It was always just a hobby i enjoyed doing

I guess finding the niche is the million dollar question :-)

If you have already been involved as a moderator and member of bodybuilding forums for years, you should have the respect of other members in the community at this point. The bodybuilding niche' though competitive it does have a large audience. You may want to consider using this niche' as you already have knowledge of the community.

You can become an affiliate for products you believe in. Create several blogs on different social blog sites and link them together. Create one main blog that all of the other blogs link to as well. Review the products you believe in and place your affiliate links in the reviews. Add a signature to your profile in the forums you are a member of and the ones you moderate. Place a link to your main blog in your signature. When someone asks for advice on supplements or any product related to your niche, you can send them to your reviews for more information about the product. If you are not an affiliate for a product similar to what they are searching for, then you have identified a need. Try to become an affiliate of a product that will fit what they are looking for, write a review and add your link. Then go reply to the thread sending them to your review.

This is just a start but with a good reputation as a mod in the niche' you should already have enough respect from the community to get sales.

      Good luck....
