Any suggestions for how to move everything from one Hostgator hosting plan to another?

I want to move some domains from a Hostgator Reseller Aluminum account to a Hostgator Baby plan. Both accounts are mine.

One domain is HTML and the rest are Wordpress.

Can someone please tell me if these are the proper steps...

1) Open Reseller account and create backups for each domain I want to move to the Baby account.

2) Open the new Baby hosting account and create addon domains for each domain I will be moving.

3) Back to the Reseller account and copy the folder of a domain that I created in the new Baby account.

4) Go back to the Baby account and paste that domain folder into the folder for that addon domain.

5) Repeat the copy and paste process for each domain I want to move.

6) Go to my domain registrar and change the Nameserver to point to the new Baby plan.

QUESTIONS, please...

1) How do I get the database for each domain I'm moving into the new Baby account?

2) Does the fact that the IP addresses will change for the domains I moved matter?

3) Is there anything else you can think of that I need to do here?

Thank you!

P.S. I didn't know where else to start a thread like this so I hope this category is okay.

Have you contacted HG customer support to get a quote on them doing it? They moved all of my accounts when I moved from a different provider. I had to pay them to move a few because they only moved the first 50 for free. I probably could have done it myself, but if things had gone wrong I wouldn't have known what to do.

I would at least get a quote from HG. It may be worth the peace of mind and the time invested in learning how to and actually doing it.

No I haven't, but I just found out that you can't do a cron job without a cpanel and since the Hostgator Baby plan doesn't have a cpanel then that means I will have to leave the domains where they are.

    Thanks

hell, i JUST got that done...

I had everything moved from my shared hosting to a VPS.

I just paid them the 37 bucks to do it..

Just get on hostgator chat and sort it out: https://chat.hostgator.com/

just cut and paste those questions into the chat box, they'll make everything right!

    best of luck,

Right, but I need to do cron jobs and I can't with the Baby plan so that means I'm sticking with my Reseller Aluminum plan for now.

Well, I got some erroneous information at first because I just found out that the Hostgator Baby plan does have a cpanel and that I can do cron jobs with it, so I'm back to my original questions...

There are many plug-ins and tools built to clone and back up Wordpress sites. I use WP BackupCreator but there other good ones. You simply copy the data and install it on your new or existing domain. Each tool does this a little differently, but once moved to the new site you can make a few changes or delete unwanted material. It's not difficult at all with the right tools.

      This should help:

Convert an Addon Domain to its Own cPanel and Vice Versa « HostGator.com Support Portal

That said....a couple of years ago for a bandwidth fee of $10 or $20 my host of almost 15 years, Hostdime, moved 30 of my add-on domains with wordpress sites on them from a tiny plan at Hostgator to full blown cpanel domains on my dedicated box at Hostdime.

It took less than a day and at first the sites threw errors. I put in a ticket and they corrected the .htacess files and possibly some other errors and all was good...cpanels and working sites all around.

If your host can't handle the task for a small fee, or point you in the right direction, then it might be time to find a new host.

      Good luck.
