set a goal for your business.

Recently,I watched a movie about golf,it's a good story and I like it very much.It tells people that once a person have set a goal and keep on working for it,in the end,he will achieve it.
Here is the summary of the movie:Near the turn of the twentieth century, young Harry Vardon becomes a champion golfer but learns that his amazing skill is no match for the class boundaries that exclude him from "gentlemanly" English society. A dozen years later, a young American, Francis Ouimet, fights against the same prejudice, as well as his own father's disdain, for a chance to participate in the U.S. Open against his idol -- Harry Vardon. The struggles of both men for acceptance provides the background for an amazing contest of skills.

Yep when your actions outweigh your words, you will achieve whatever it is you put your hand to do.

Without a finite plan I doubt it. If you reverse engineer how to get there, and follow your plan with laser focus toward your goal, I say absolutely. No difference in my mind between Warren Buffet and the average guy except drive, focus and determination. If you want it bad enough, you will find a way to get it. Like was said before, only you have the answers.

I think to some degree or another most people work best to a deadline. Deadline-induced behavior is really useful because it encourages you to prioritize, dump the unimportant and focus purely on results. How can you use that motivation in business? Simple, just announce your goals.

Yep, action speaks louder than words.

What I feel is very important is, having a clear vision of the goal while working towards it.
Because visualizing the goal, having a very clear vision of what you want to achieve, propels you into the right course of action.

I tell this to my clients, Start with a small goal that should be easy to hit, yet not to easy as you don't have to put effort into it....With time they feel better when they hit the goals....Assuming they follow proper marketing plans and stay with it....might sound stupid but a small goal of 10 to 20 bucks a week for a newbie is 40 to 80 bucks a month to start and thats pays for some part of your bills....once they see that it can be achieved they will work harder for a larger goal

I think it is better to set atchievable (realistic) goal, rather than ultra maximal, that you probably are not going to reach

I agree you that setting goal is very important , but goal should be feasible and can be implemented , that it should be within your abilities. On the other hand if you put goal excedding your experiences , most probably that will cause your frustration.

Goal setting is key to success with anything. I actually teach a two-hour class on on the best way to set, manage and achieve your goals. The down and dirty is this:

Be Realistic: $500 million is a great goal but not realistic. Instead, break it into smaller goals that are easier to achieve in shorter amounts of time. That will give you positive reinforcement on your journey.

Make your goals measurable: $500 million is not really a measurable goal. A measurable goal needs a target amount of something and a timeframe. Like my 30 sites in 60 days challenge. That is measurable and it'll be easy for me to track whether or not I'm meeting that goal.

Set Milestones and reward yourself for meeting them: This is particularly important for long-term goals (a year or more). If you're only nose to the grindstone working all the time with no reward for your efforts it can be disheartening. This is more applicable to the original design of my course (financial management) but it's still applicable. If your long term goal is to set up 100 new mini-sites in a year then your milestone would probably be to every quarter have 25 new sites. It's easy to measure that. If you've done your 25 sites then reward yourself somehow with something that is important to you personally or important to your business. Make it something worth working towards.

Make as much of the work toward achieving the goal automatic: most people realize that the easier you make things to do the more likely you are to do them. Use automated software to make your life easier and more productive. The more time you can spend on growing your business vs. doing grunt work means the more benefit you'll receive in the long run.

Ironically, out of my 6-class series the goal setting is the least popular while to me it's the most important. I finally had to make it a prerequisite to the other classes. I believe knowing how to really set and manage goals is the foundation for all success. If you don't know how to do it you might succeed but it'll likely take you longer. I equate it to going on a road trip. Sure, you can just get in the car and drive but if you don't have a destination you'll just wander aimlessly. Similarly, if you have a destination but don't have a route planned you'll likely get there eventually but odds are good you'll waste a lot of time and gas on the way.

    Hope this helps.

When I was starting out with IM I had a mind set that, if you have nothing, you have nothing to loose...
And as crazy as that sounds it was the only thing that kept me moving forward through all the learning curves...

Goal setting is the most important mind set you will ever have if you want to Acheive
success in anything you do in life or business...

I set out small goals one at a time moving closer and closer to my bigger goals...
The key is NOT giving up on your goals, how big or small they are...
