Leads & appointments - Tips and strategies

Hi guys! I'd like to have your opinions, feedbacks and suggestions about this unusual marketing activity. At the moment, my focus is on providing my sales force with good appointments, which we get by online advertising that conveys our target to our website. That is where we get the leads we turn into appointments with our clients (our service is quite complex so we cannot afford to sell it online).
We tried classic tools like social and AdWords but I was wondering if there are other useful strategies we did not think about. Did you ever find yourselves bringing on a similar task? And even if you didn't, what would you suggest us to try?
Also, I can share my experience with you if you'd like to get some tip!

    I personally do not use Adwords.

    Go with Bing instead it is cheaper and if done the right way you can get loads of traffic from it.
