This is a brilliant expose!

How Bleacher Report's Founder Built a 60m-Person Audience

It explains how one person has built up to 60 million readers....

The best part?

It's this:

"...So, how'd Dave and his buds figure out what real sports fans wanted to read about? The same way you and I would... they Googled it.

Dave used Google Insights to figure out what search terms sports fans were typing into Google. Then he used that data to shape his content strategy.

...

There was just one problem.

The company only had 4 employees. And no budget to hire more writers. So Dave built a huge network of bloggers who wrote for free in exchange for reaching a big audience.....

And get this:

By the time Turner Broadcasting offered to buy Bleacher Report for $180m, the company had 400 employees and over 10m unique monthly visitors. Not shabby for the four guys who started a company in a tiny room.

The question remains...

... are *you* willing to put in the effort to achieve *your* goals?

It's something to think of.

Enjoy!

400 employees on 10 million monthly uniques? That's only 25,000 uniques per employee. I'm assuming a lot of these were part time, interns, or unpaid employees.

Thanks for posting! If you have a goal then will appear opportunities to achieve it. I believe that commitment and daily work can bring a success. But it's not so easy to keep it.

I love this article. It just shows that if you have a goal and take action toward it every day, are persistent, consistent, and don't give up, you can achieve whatever you've got your sights on. Intention + action are the two main ingredients, followed by persistence, and sometimes patience. If you have those things, you'll get there.

    Sorry Barbling,

Great story and example of being a true entrepreneur

Having an idea that meets a need,

doing your research and adding something of value

    being innovative

establishing and running a multi million dollar business.

    four posts so far

    Wrong forum.

Put up a pipe dream of how you too can slap up a page , drop an afffiliate link to some garbage "product" and be a success

and then this thread would be hopping.

Most Imers don;t make it because they give up, don;t work hard or smart enough?

Pure Malarkey. Most Imers here fail because they go the path of having nothing to really offer, don't want to research and brainstorm ideas that REALLY fill a need and exhibit not even the interest to be or do anything that is shown in your OP on ANY level or scale.

    Wasteland.

Seen it for many many years. the best threads and WSOs drop like a rock in this forum. The trash is where the action is.

Unless you manage a team (small or big), you're not an entrepreneur in the true sense. Having a dedicated team clearly points out that you're running a real business and have a sustainable business model. It also gives an amazing feeling of responsibility. We most of the time start solo, but what the heck we're doing if we remain solo and can't bring any employment opportunities with the experience we have gained over the years. Our experience needs to be validated in that way. I know many people got amazing skills but do not want to expand their horizons, but again we hardly find a post or two here in WF which discusses overall business management such as hiring people, revenue models etc. rather we completely ignore a very good post like this. When an individual earns some $6000 a month, hundreds of posts counted within days. Thanks that someone already pointed out where the problem lies.

      truth....

and if they put in the hard work they still give up because they dont see the old model of "rewards after effort.."

it takes time to create a digital asset

This is a great example of what it means to truly build as asset. It's too bad that 99% of the members here are just looking for "quick fixes," because otherwise this could actually be a useful piece of inspiration....ahhh, what the heck, you know what it actually is. This is reason why I love online business. It's because assets like this can be made by ANYONE.
