Where to advertise apart from Google and Facebook?

Hi everyone

A client of ours is wanting to promote a lead-generating tool on their website, for which Google ads are already being run.

We proposed advertising on Facebook, which they are happy with, but are they any other places to advertise which might be worth considering?

I don't view Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest as being appropriate channels to advertise this particular tool, so I'm looking for any other ideas of how to promote it?

Thanks

You have clients and for your clients you only know 2 places to advertise?

Try google type something like "internet ad networks" or "Paid advertising online" or something similar. Then take the results do some research and find one that suits your and your clients needs

No. These are just the two most relevant networks I've identified. As mentioned, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest are not appropriate in this case.

Solo ads, Microsoft, Banner. They all work. Start with one or two and learn to convert.

Focusing on Google and Facebook alone would give you a ton of traffic if done right. If you do Google PPC, do try bing as well as you might be able to compare and see which one converts better and give you better ROI. Don't forget to include re-targeting pixel as missing this, you will potentially leaving a good amount of money on the table.

I think you focus on Facebook ads and Google ads is enough. They're the most relevant and largest network worth to do advertising now. On both platform you can target to your right audiences without any problem.

Start up a blog on the side about your product and promote it through your Facebook page. Apart from that you can also do content syndication by contacting third party sources to put up your stuff on their site. It might not give you a direct benefit in terms of search engine ranking but will definitely help you to target different demographics. If you have sources in your pocket then you can also contact FB page admins with bigger followings to put up your content in exchange for money or make up different innovative videos and share it on Youtube and on your FB page.

Bing would be a great option, even better than google.

It is a lot cheaper to do campaigns there and since you say Google and Facebook are already being used then you can use that keyword research and expand it for Bing.

  • OneM1nuteNoodle,

The sites of your competitors and potential prospect partners can help you identify untapped online advertising places and networks ...

What I do first is to develop a list of competing sites that are heavily trafficked by my target buyers. I also create a list of heavily trafficked prospect partner sites with non-competing, laterally relevant content and offers that can be supplemental or complementary to my own content and offers ...

    Then, I use tools like SimilarWeb.Com and SpyFu.Com ...

These tools help me identify effective traffic generating methods that are currently being implemented by the competing sites and prospect partner sites in my list ...

These tools also help me identify sites that are getting significant referral traffic and social traffic; and

Through these tools, I can also identify the referring sites and social networks where my competitors and prospect partners are getting their traffic from ...

I then verify if I can implement ad campaigns in those referring sites and social networks. I also verify if I can place content and engage active users in those sites, especially for blogs, Web forums, user groups and so on ...

    Hope this helps!

Thanks everyone for the advice. Running ads on Bing seems to be a common denominator here.

However, Bing is not widely used here in South Africa. Looking at the client's analytics, bing only accounts for about 5% of organic traffic to the site in the past month - is it still worth running ads which are going to be shown to a very small segment?

I'm not against the idea, but what can Bing offer that's different to Google AdWords in this particular situation?

Bing is different from Google mainly because of its audience but it is also cheaper than Google because there is less competition.

Generally speaking most of the Bing users are located outside the US and almost all of them use Internet Explorer, are 35 years old or older, are married with children and are less tech savvy.

    Please, say it isn't so . . .

I'm sorry, but there's something that is disturbing about this thread. Maybe I'm reading the OP wrong - nothing personal here and no ax to grind with him - new member and this thread is his first post.

You have a client that has hired you to do marketing of a new tool on their website. They're already doing Google ads and you've proposed Facebook.

That's all you've got for the client? So you come to a public forum and solicit random people's ideas (most of whom have never made a dime marketing) so you can pass them on to your client so that he can spend his company's money on these random forum suggestions?

I'm sorry if I'm reading this wrong but if I were your client and knew where you were getting your marketing ideas from . . . I would fire you immediately.

      A few things...

A: Maybe chill out a bit on new members before jumping to conclusions. I may be a new member, but that doesn't mean I haven't been lurking around this forum for a while.

B: I get the whole 'you're a marketer - do your job properly' vibe, but if you think I'd even consider following through on any of these suggestions without doing prior research, you're hugely mistaken. You say "...so you can pass them on to your client so that he can spend his company's money on these random forum suggestions" as if I'm not going to be the first person the client looks to for answers if this fails. That's exactly what's going to happen if this fails. I'm not looking for a place to dump my client's money - I'm looking for alternatives to what I've stated, which will give them the best possible ROI.

C: No, that isn't all I've got. It's just what I view as being the most appropriate channels through which to promote this tool.

D: Knowledge is power. Forgive me for trying to expand on what I already know.

    In only one word... Reddit!

I have used Reddit with very successful results and with zero experience.

You just need to choose the subReddit and audience you want to target.

Set up how much money do you want to spend per hour or day and the CPM.

When Pokemon GO released I created a couple of posts containing Amazon links and it converted like h***.

If you know well your audience/client you will be able to make the best out of Reddit ads.

Also, combine it with FB ads and Google and you will see a very good performance.

For more questions about Reddit ads, please, don't hesitate to ask!

mailing lists can be better than social: IF you ask for them for 'buyers list"

NO: "buyers are included" --> yeah, how many, 5-6?

YES: "only buyers on that list" --> absolutely, let's do it!
