Word .doc or .pdf for creating an offer?

I was wondering if there are any advantages/disadvantages to releasing an offer as a Word .doc file or a .pdf? I appreciate any input, thank you.

Most offers are released from a web page which would suggest that neither a word doc or a pdf is the appropriate platform.

If you insist on using one or the other, however, a pdf would be preferable as it can be viewed on multiple devices and browsers. A .doc file will have to be read by someone having MS Word, Open Office, or equivalent software which will be somewhat restrictive.

    Use whatever is most common.

There's nothing like buying a product, realizing it's in some obscure format, (perhaps the author thought they were being clever) and wasting time trying to open it.

.pdf insures your formatting will remain the same, regardless of where the document it viewed. For this reason, I always prefer to use it.

    Hello,

PDF's are perceived of higher value than a Doc... something to keep in mind as it will help your offer seem more valuable and professional

    Best regards from

This was my first thought, then I wondered what it would even hurt if they did edit it. If someone wants to straight up steal my work then a PDF isn't going to stop them.

On the other hand, if they happen to damage the document that could be an entirely different issue to deal with. For that reason alone I think I'll go with PDF.

I agree...depending on the niche and if the customers would be interested in PLR then it isn't only "either/or" and may be"both".

Depending on the OP's goals, it may be possible for the PDF can be the front end with the .doc along with PLR rights offered as an upsell.

PDF nowadays is considered a standard format. This is best format, period.

Few things you can do to minimise the chances people duplicate or copy your work illegally is by enabling few of the security features available in PDF writer tool. It doesn't stop people from copying but significantly reduce the chances of illegal copying.

    My first thought is PDF.
It's not as easy to edit and the formatting should always be the same and it's pretty much the standard and is also commonly used across this and many other industries.

My feeling is that a .doc file always looks like

    a) an unfinished work
    b) a PLR product

So a PDF file looks more professional, is easier to read and preserves your formatting whatever device opens it.

If someone really wants to copy your text, they can, but a PDF makes it more difficult and that, alone, puts most people off. It's just too much trouble.

PDF has been the standard for years due to the cross-platform compatibility. It's what people expect unless the document is intended to be edited. Reason enough to stick with PDF.

RTF (Rich Text Format) used to be used in place of doc files for documents meant to be edited, like PLR. They have some formatting without being bound by proprietary formatting codes, and thus were a good choice for multiple platforms.

These days, there are so many converters out there and programs that handle multiple formats that RTF isn't nearly as common as it used to be.

PDF! With a Word document they can edit and mess around with what you wrote which could interfere with the selling flow.

Although video has taken over, I still think PDF will always have room as a legitimate way to offer a Product.

From a personal standpoint, I'm finding a combination of appropriate video combined with a PDF I can use for either a pre-watch guide or post-watch reference is very useful.

I'm becoming leery of video-only products, as too many of them are the "shoot a crappy video in one take, and market the heck out it" models as taught in those "Create a $97 Product in Under 60 Minutes" courses.

Just print out the video and take it wherever you want...

I think stressing with .doc or .pdf is completely irrelevant. Just use PDF like 99% people are doing. Most important thing is that the product has quality focus on that.

    Cheers

A pdf file seems more appropriate as compared to a doc file because it is easily downloadable from any webform. A pdf file is also available in many formats such as iphone, ipad so pdf format is a standard due to its crossed platform compatibility...
