Broadening out a niche blog
I infrequently posted since moving the site, but still had steady number of visitors and they increased while I did nothing. I only get around 7000 views a month right now, but made some money on Amazon despite low numbers I get. Conversion is around 5%
I've realised recently after learning about building niche sites that I've pigeonholed myself a bit. Especially with the URL and title. It's a short one, but the initials and name of it represent a specific diet which doesn't seem so popular. Not as big as something like raw food or whatever.
Not sure where to go from here because that name only has 500 searches a month according to jaxxy. (KQI is also red for main keyword)
What to do?
Create a new site and use this as a niche site within that brand?
Change the angle of the blog, alter title of the site and start going after new keywords? Health, nutrition, supplements is a big market... though it would contradict with what the site is about in some cases.
I just feel restricted with the products and things I can promote. But does that matter? Should I just target keywords outside the specific niche? A site doesn't have to be about one or two keywords right. As long as a page has authority it can rank for a broad range of articles
Surprisingly my most popular post was about my hair, and that wasn't even really the topic of my blog. But I guess I tied in veganism with hair (over 46,000 views), so it is related I suppose (my blog isn't specifically about veganism)
I'm only just getting into creating niche websites, quite overwhelming... stuck on direction at the moment. And now just as I learn everything, google makes the change to the keyword planner as well
