Setting up an Aweber campaign - 'from' E-Mail address question

I'm new to Aweber and I'm currently going through all the steps to set up a campaign for a niche site. It recommends you don't use Gmail/Hotmail/Yahoo etc for the 'from' E-Mail address, rather you should use your domain E-Mail address. I don't have a problem with this, but as I'm using the E-Mail account that comes with cpanel, it's very basic and it seems all I can do is read mails and reply to them. I want to be able to customise it so that when a subscriber receives an E-Mail it will have the website name as the sender and not 'admin'(the address is admin@websitename.net).

What should I do? Should I set this webmail up with Outlook Express? Will this allow me to customise it? Or for ease of use, should I just use my Gmail address instead? On a couple of the lists I'm on, I notice they use Gmail. To be honest, I had never even looked at what address subscribers were 'sending' from until I started setting up this campaign So I'm wondering if it's really as important as Aweber says it is. Many thanks for any help and advice

    I would use FIRSTNAME@domain.com

it's more personal. Check into your hosting account - most of them come with so many email addresses for free.

Use an email address @ your domain, not Gmail. Using a free address as your business address looks unprofessional.

You can still use Gmail to handle all of your email, even addresses at your domain.

Go into cpanel and set up an email account, such as name@domain.com. Make sure it is set up for POP access.

Log in to your Gmail account and go to Settings, Accounts and Import. Click on Send Mail from Another Address, and add name@domain.com.

Under Check mail using POP3, click on Add POP3 email account and configure Gmail to fetch the email from name@domain.com. It is a good idea to set Gmail to then delete the email from the domain.com server, so your email box doesn't fill up.

Now, when someone sends an email to name@domain.com, it will automatically appear in your Gmail account. You can reply from within your Gmail account and the email will say it is fron name@domain.com, so there is no confusion.

There are more detailed explanations of this process at Gmail. Check the Learn More links from the Accounts and Import page in Settings.

This works--I run all of my email through Gmail.

Thanks for your replies - much appreciated I'll set it so that I can access it via Gmail. With the name thing, I'm not sure I want to use my first name because to be honest, this niche is probably 70-30(at least) in terms of females and males seeking out the info. I think females are more likely to buy from other females, and they would prefer to be receiving the info from a fellow female too. Perhaps I'm wrong, but that's the way it seems to me. Now, the site is a joint venture with myself and my wife, but I will be writing the autoresponder follow up messages. So I wouldn't use her name either. This is why I chose admin@sitename rather than my name. I agree that this isn't as personal though. Hmm, not sure what to do - I'm open to suggestions though

Many businesses use a persona for marketing and/or customer service. (Don't want to shatter any illusions, but there really isn't a "Betty Crocker." )

There is nothing wrong with emails coming to/from your "assistant" or another persona. So set up an email address such as Sally@domain.com and use that as your contact for that site.

Yeah, I actually just spoke to my wife about this and she said to use her first name for it. It's not really dishonest, because she is very much a part of it all, and will actually probably write some of the messages herself Thanks again for the advice
