And although I am promoting actual affiliate products, I wanted a couple of banners on my home page, just of a way of potentially attracting a few clicks and also to make the site look a bit more (yet not over the top) commercial.

So as a commision Junction member I applied to a few companies that matched my demographic, and today have found that 5 out of 6 have declined my application.

I have heard that CJ has got a habit of working with very choosy companies (and rightly so).

There are a lot of companies on CJ i would like to advertise in the future and what i don't want to do is "do my biscuit" by being denied by the majority of companies, obviously put by my sites newness and then not be able to go back to them when i'm more established so.........

Any tips on getting CJ companies to say yes?

Any other altenatives that are a little more flexible with taking on newbie affiliates?

I've applied for a few companies at shareasale at the mo so we'll see what happens.

Was looking for the hsbc, blockbuster kind of company for a header banner. Something of interest to 18-60 year old men.

I realise my site is at it's infancy and i am still playing around with graphics and images for posts etc so if they checked it out it won't be all that impressive but thought it might have been easier to get people willing to have their banner displayed!

I want to use my text widgets to enhance the look of the site!

Think I may ask some fellow warriors if they want some free advertising for a while as this is my first site and i want to show these advertisers what I can do!

I know once i'm up and runnig these companies will be over the moon to advertise with me but i guess they want "proof" before they let you promote them.

Fair enough i guess. Guilty until proven innocent in their eyes i imagine!

Oh blimey Danny. And your site is very specific too the offer you wanted to promote, where as I was looking things of general interest to the niche!

I might struggle for now then with thoses sort of High street brands!

I go into how to get around this in my course as its very common. I will say this that the best form of changing a persons mind is to talk to them over the phone vs shoot them an email

im based in Canada and so many USA, UK and Australian companies whos geographic target is only their country only want affiliates who reside in those countries and hence the reason you get the " thanks but no thanks " from them

But dont take that as the end of the road. I have received many of them but have always managed to get around their objections on the phone.
