Need Website Advice for Affiliate Marketing

I am just starting affiliate marketing. Although I have been writing blogs and contents for a while.

In order to sign up for affiliate marketing, I need a website. I will have no problem creating a webpage but I was wondering does this mean I need to purchase a domain? If I need a domain, do I need a generic name for my affiliate products or go more specific with what I intend to sell?

Thanks for any advice

You do not need to purchase a domain. You can for example create a blog on wordpress.com or create squidoo lenses or write articles and publish them on articlesbase.com.

But I strongly suggest that you buy your own domain name (hey, it's just $8 to $10). If the domain name contains your main keyword, you will have much more chances to rank high in google.

So if I create a wordpress blog. I can submit that as my website?

Maybe I am looking at the wrong affiliate things. Because it requires a website to become an affiliate

That's enough for cj.com or linkshare.com or shareasale.com. If you want to get accepted into CPA networks, like azoogleads.com or copeac.com etc. You do not need a web site. Just key in "google.com" on the sign up form and write PPC marketing in the comment section. Then hit "send" and pick up the phone and call. You should be accepted basically immediately. Tell them that you do Pay Per Click Marketing and you will build landing pages based on the offers that you are going to run.

    Wordpress works fine.

However, you don't need a website if you use yahoo's pay per click service. You can promote directly to the affiliates site with your link. you can't do this with google anymore.

Your domain is how the world will think of you, a free domain can take away your credibility.

Please register a very good domain name for less than $10.

Go specific with your domain name, as well as your focus niche, buy a good niche domain name.

Yea if you decide to purchase your own domain name and go with NameCheap.com, you can always find the latest coupon codes for them at NameCheapCoupon.com.

Using a coupon code when registering a .com (or .net, .org I believe) usually brings the cost down from $9.69 to $8.81. Not a big discount I know, but every little bit helps lol.

By the way, have you decided how you are going to promote the affiliate products on your site?

Maybe you could try a sort of review site where you go through the top 10 products in your niche.

Or you could do a "product A vs. product B" comparison where you look at the pros and cons of both products.

Remember to pre-sell your visitors by first focusing on the problems they have, and then giving them a solution in the form of the product you recommend.

Although to be honest, sometimes a good, hard sales pitch right upfront works like magic. It really depends on your target audience.

As for the domain name, get a ".com" extension, make it succint and memorable and get some hosting.

If you register your domain with one company (like GoDaddy), and host it with another (HostGator), you will need to point your domain name servers to your hosting site. But if you want the easier route, you can just register your domain and host with the same company (e.g. Godaddy).

Also, have you thought about capturing email addresses on your site? Maybe at this stage you are not thinking about building an email list, but it is never late to begin creating a loyal base of subscribers to your newsletter.

      Wish you the best,
      Aitor

Don't bother with wordpress.com as they will delete your affiliate blog sooner or later.

Perhaps you can experiment & practice with a free website from yola.com or weebly.com and prove you can sell to a particular niche before your bother getting a domain name and a real website hosting account related to the niche?

    Hope This Helps!!
