Bargain Rate Overseas Outsourcing

Hey gang,

I have a quick question for y'all. Not long ago, it was possible to easily access overseas workers able and willing to work for relative peanuts (due to currency exchange rates &| cost of living differences) with little research & less hassle. Unfortunately, times have changed and the most readily available sources of inexpensive overseas workers have dried up. Even given language and cultural barriers, if you have the sense God gave a horse, you can very simply explain what you need an employee to do using step-by-step instructions, including screenshots (it doesn't hurt to have a bit of a programming background, I do confess: providing job instructions is significantly easier than writing and implementing a bug-free algorithm).

Verbose explanatory matter aside, here's the question, gang:

Where do you find overseas workers willing to work for peanuts?

Thanks in advance.

Jonathan

I use Upwork. I can point you to specific people if you give me an idea of what exact kind of work you are seeking.

Fiverr is one good place but remember that you get what you pay for and you won't always get the quality you want.

Well, I wanted to start an affordable SEO service overseas, I actually done my research, made sure the country fit what I am trying to do , english is not an issue for people over there. I went there by myself, interviewed people, hired them and today I am running my business lower than what I would do if I got through upwork or other freelancer site ( Upwork charge minimum $3/hr, my target was to be able to beat their prices, yet offer employees over there a reasonable income.

I am pretty satisfied where I am, my employees over seas are pretty happy with the work environment as well. Each has their very specific job, nobody have to do it all ( I hate one size fit all concept ), this being said, they have been trained by me face to face, I know I can relay on them and promote them with confident

Upwork and middle freelancers sites has been very abusive of their power. I hate using their service as they keep increase their rates and cut the money going to the workers. I used to hire people on upwork ( full development agency in india ), The agency owner was crying out of their rates, they charge them money to apply for jobs, then money for each hour they work, then 30% to withdraw, they are sweat shop.

Of course the marketplace used to be much more bearable before odesk and elance merged to be the biggest monopoly for freelancing

By the way, I know people saying you get what you pay, with all respect it is NOT true, for honest workers, this is just offensive.

People who have work ethics, they do their job with Honesty No matter what they accepted to charge $1 or $1000

I have friends who had success with onlinejobs(dot)ph. You can hire Filipinos there at reasonable rates but they charge you a monthy fee. Nowadays as others have said is becoming trickier to source for "cheap" labour.

    Hello there,

Check Upwork and onlinejobs.ph out. There are Filipino skilled writers and/or virtual assistants who can work for you.

    Good luck!

Depends what kind of works. For example for some work good enough European Virtual Assistant Agency.

Sadly, the myth of READILY AVAILABLE cheap overseas labor for RANDOM TASKS is a myth

You need someone who is already TRAINED somewhat to handle your task OR...

    You'll be LOSING MONEY

    Seriously.

Sure, you're paying $1 an hour but it will cost you $20 an hour fixing their work

Do you see how this works out?

I'm not saying you should pay TOP DOLLAR. I'm all for outsourcing but you need to use the RIGHT FRAMEWORK.

Depending on the type of job you need done and HOW LONG you need it done, it might be better to go through an OFFSHORING AGENCY.

    Seriously.

You get training / quality control / redundancy / centralized payment processing and account management and LESS OF THE HEADACHES of dealing with individual freelancers

This advice applies across the board - whether you're looking for writers, legal analysts, data entry people, programmers, coders, or data entry folks, the SAME PROBLEMS persist... Thankfully, the SOLUTION is also the SAME.

Well, like you said; times have changed!

You can have peeps get stuff done for cheaply at the Warrior For Hire section, but definitely not for peanuts.

  • You can get bargain employees at any freelance sites since the type of jobs you are outsourcing doesn't require high-level skills and can be done "using step-by-step instructions, including screenshots (it doesn't hurt to have a bit of a programming background."

Every year there are newbies or 'new unemployed graduates' in freelance sites who are just eager to get hired:

However since you are paying low rates, expect some turnover since online freelancers (whether from India or the Philippines) have access to higher paying job opportunities when they become more experienced. But that shouldn't be problem for you because of the availability of new freelancers every year who accept bargain jobs.

Another suggestion is to get a virtual assistant in India or the Philippines which could recruit for you. They can post these jobs in local forums from where they can recruit employees that would accept jobs below the average rates demanded in the well-established freelance sites.
