How long do you give it?

Hey guys.

How long do you give your niche a chance to grow and become profitable. I'm gonna throw out a scenario and see what you think.

You have the following things in place and given it 90 days.

(Hopefully this isn't too broad but please let us all know what might be missing)

1. Proven Niche (Make Money Online, Health etc)
2. Website/Blog
3. Growing email list with an autoresponder series in place
4. PPC/Social Media Ads generating traffic
5. Sales funnel with an information product in place

You have made $0 in 90 days. What would you be doing wrong?

these are all important elements but its too crowded.

focus on two things to test..

your squeeze page and your traffic source..

get those two things right and the rest should take care of itself..

And instead of 90 days... Why not reduce it to 60 days? I mean, that's a lot of wasted time...

You should be worried if it does not bear results as early as 30 days... So check your website regularly and make sure everything's good. Real good.

      Good luck!

With this scenario, I will suspect that the problem is about the product or the visitors profile. I would change some offers with others and check conversion rates again.

Also,I would make sure the visitors interests and product you offer are very related, there is a reason that many people don't trust many PPC agencies to drive traffic.

By the way, I think 90 days is not a very long period of time.

I would start here, get a better understanding of 'niches', and look at how I'm targeting leads.

Make money online and health are HUGE markets. Personally, I like to compete in huge, profitable markets. But I wouldn't do it with one infoproduct. I'm assuming your infoproduct doesn't cover every single make money online method or health issue in the world. I'm also doubtful that anyone/many people are looking for such a product.

So, your conversions will likely increase if your traffic is more closely associated with your product.

Instead of targeting people who want to make money online, target people who want to make money online with PLR material. Instead of targeting people that are interested in health topics, target people that want to naturally lower their blood pressure.

Given #3 and #4, you have some level of interest and response. So look a #1, #2 and #5.

You say "proven niche" and then name a couple of very broad markets. So step one is to look at exactly who you are targeting. Usually, this means tightening the niche so your ideal prospects almost literally see themselves in your content and offers. You want to leave them thinking "how on earth did he know that about me" in a non-creepy way.

Which leads to #2. The first thing to do is make sure you're okay mechanically. Do the pages load quickly? Does my layout/theme look good regardless of the device used to view it? Is it easy to read? Do the images load quickly, and do they make sense? I'll stop there, but you can download a lot of good checklists with a little searching.

The other thing to look at on your blog/site is the message to audience match. The main problem I usually see relates to the niche selection. The content is just too broad. Another cause of scattered content focus is choosing page topics from some keyword tool. Choosing your topics by number of searches rather than by how well your topics fit with each other leads to continuity problems.

Which leaves #5, the funnel. Start by looking for bottlenecks. If you're getting visitors and subscribers, it means they are dropping out somewhere between the opt-in and the checkout page. Look at your stats - is there one spot that gets most of the dropouts? That's the first thing you want to start testing. Is it your message to audience match? Is it the offer itself? If you're an affiliate, or even just adding an affiliate offer, are you getting clicks to the vendor? Does the vendor page convert? Does it have leaks?

Lots of possible problems, but the main thing is to attack them systematically.

So many dynamics can cause that. A profitable website consists of 3 major things, good design, good content, good traffic. How good is the content on your site? Ive found out that most people overlook content and they have a neat site, with traffic but no conversions. How good is the content in your opinion?

My belief is that the content/copy trumps the layout. Stats show this but there are variables (obviously). If you have a great blog with loads of useful info and links but it's hard to navigate, your success of conversions and opt in etc does lower, but if the content is well S.E.O then at least the visitor has made it there.

Narrowing down that niche is something I didn't post originally but I agree with researching a "niche within a niche" to focus in on a smaller market.

Traffic quality came up too which I like. I guess I knew 90 days was a long time.

Thanks everyone so far. So me usful info.

I will not repeat the good points that others have written. But I will add this.

I guess the website / blog you mention (number 2) in your opening post is the website of your signature? I'll give you my impression when I click on this link. What your one page website says is: " I'm an egocentric, I do not want to give you useful information for free, I'm agressive and I'm very motivated to sell you something immediately! "

My advice: Start by having the generosity to give me something I want, something useful for me. Without trying to sell me something. Try to get my confidence first.

After that, you will be able to sell.

To put it another way, I think people sign up for your newsletter by curiosity but they have no confidence in you. They see you as a pushy seller. And that's why they do not buy.

I didn't look at the link in your sig until it was mentioned by Sven, but if that's part of your funnel, you should work on it. That thing is awful and literally hurt my eyes reading it. So much text... but it doesn't say anything.

Using a squeeze page hosted by GetResponse instead of your own site doesn't exactly scream "Success" either. If this is the "website/blog" you listed in your OP, this would be a really good starting point.

Well... nowadays it seems that people who are not able to make money on the internet are able to teach others how to make money on the internet.

What's that old quote? "Those who can't, teach." Or something like that.

I don't necessarily think that's true in every situation, but you certainly do find lot of it in IM.

I think you need more promotional videos on youtube like what Shaun T does every time he launches a new workout.

You also need distribute more share worthy posts [inforgraphics] on what people today mistakenly believe to be true about health but which science today disproves.

You can also give out a useful guide, or healthy recipe sample posters just like those used by Autumn Calabrese when she promoted 21 Day Fix.

    Hi

If you are getting traffic to your site, I would look at what is offered? Meaning, if you get 5,000 visitors a day to a bad website or offer, they aren't going to stay. Let alone purchase anything.

Also, your email messages. The follow up emails are a big part of the puzzle.

Either you've chosen the wrong niche, even through it's popular you might be in too much of a crowded market...or you're not targeting the right keywords/content. I know the health field is just an example, but things like "weight lose" products that everyone always uses to start out with, it's just a competitive market that it's too much of a risk of putting in tons of work and not getting a return.

If this happened to me, I'll first look at my traffic source.

Am I targeting the right audience.

If nothing wrong with traffic, next I'll test a different headline on my squeeze page.

Or maybe test a different free gift...

If it's a PROVEN niche and you have your traffic flowing in, but no sales in 90 days, then I can say you're targeting a wrong audience...

OR the REASON why people signed up to you is not MET by your offer.. Here's a tip: Make sure that your FREE gift (that you're offering in exchange of their emails) is related to your future offers.. That way, you can be sure enough that whoever is interested on your free gift is also interested on your offers as well.

    Consider this things:
1-what they expect when they click your ads:your squeeze page or generaly your conent must be in your customers expectations.,if they found what they expect they will purchase if not they will just leave so no conversion.
2-your squeeze page professionalisme:testimonials increase the conversion, if the product is yours , you may consider give it for free or lower price to have some testimonials on some forums .

90 days is kind of a long time to go without testing multiple offers IMO
