My First $1000 Week and how I did it

I tried this once before and had to take a vacation for a week...

But here it is:

I tried for almost a year with MY OWN PRODUCT to make sales. I would make 1 or 2 a week. yes, I was VERY excited about those few sales.

Then, I decided it was time to try and build an optin list of subscribers and give them some good content and a few sales messages as I went along.

When I hit 1 week, with only about 100 subscribers, I started making about 2 or 3 sales A DAY.

Then, after a week or so - I went to 4, 5, sometimes 6 sales a DAY! Woo hoo - now I was crankin baby!

Then I did a little mini launch. I hit a grand that week. I was soooo excited.

How did I do it?

Video Squeeze pages for one. Also used standard static optin pages. The idea was to build my last as fast as possible.

What am I using for traffic generation? SEO and Adwords.

The Adwords provides instant subscribers. The SEO provides lots of extras. My cost per lead is about $0.51 and my cost per conversion is at $12.00. My product is $27 with a $7/month subscription fee.

My cancellations are VERY low - like 3%.

So - to all newbies out there - BUILD A LIST AND THEN SELL TO IT. There is NO OTHER perfect path to success. Everything else is "short timer" stuff.

I know - you CPA, direct linking, and Adsense people will disagree but hey - that's the way I did it - so I highly recommend it.

First of all, congrats. It must be very exciting to earn $1000 in a week.

I'm not familiar with PPC. But I interested to know if you have high converting traffic from organic search. Do you rank your squeeze page on SERPs or use other funnels (articles, blog posts, web2.0) to direct the SEO traffic to your squeeze page?

I do a little of everything. The SEO stuff pays off better for me - just get the page ranked by posting tons of content at the bottom of it. i also use forum posting and blogs to redirect traffic to my pages. Also use articles. it all works.

Japp thats a great way to increase your sales....And this can and should be done even if you have adsense sites or an affiliate.

I started to collect subscribers on one of my affiliate sites last month and in one month my commission has doubled...

Listbuilding is great if done correctly...

    Congratulations, winebuddy.

Thanks for the reinforced motivation -- I know how important building a list is, but still, when it comes to projects, I sometimes find myself procrastinating setting up a method of generating a list.

I always try to build an optin list whether its my own product or cpa the only exceptions are when I am promoting certain small niches where there is not much other oportunities to sell to them.

I never would have started to rack up $1000 weeks if I hadn't implemented video squeeze pages and really taken CARE with the writing of the autoresponder messages that go out to my list.

Right now I'm re-writing every single message in my autoresponder (there are six months worth!) Because I've learned so much about effective copywriting since I wrote them a year ago.

As much care as you put into writing your sales page, you should put just as much care into crafting the messages that go out in your AR.

Funny how I've seen sales pages that are very well written, and if I sign up their list, I get sent a bunch of badly written crap that is just begging me to click a link.

It all works in conjunction to get you those $1000 weeks...

I know exactly what you're talking about, Rob. And I think it's a great idea to revisit your AR messages and see if they need a revamp.

        Way to go Winebuddy!

    Rob - ABSOLUTELY right!

The followup is almost if not more important than the sales or the optin page. MUST be excellent content and MUST develop the relationship with the prospect and encourage feedback.

I get tons of emails from the people on my list. Sometimes I have time to answer and sometimes I have to answer in a broadcast - either way, the follow-up is what SELLS your product.

    GREAT POST Rob

  • OK Mr Winebuddy I just purchased your ebook. The only thing that I would say that in the pass I've purchased various ebooks and systems and I always find that the author always leaves out that Secret Ingredient! So consequently you only get so far... but not far enough to make a difference!!! That being said I'm quite excited to go home this evening and implement your system and trust that your belief is one of... there is enough money out there for everyone to get a piece of the pie...
So heres to everyones success and mine.

As I said in another thread - I get up usually about 4am and work till 7am then have to get ready for my real job. When I get home and after the workout, I get to the computer about 6:30 or 7pm and work till 10 or 11pm. So I almost get in what you would call a full day.

I have a new Clickbank product I am now finishing and should launch in a month or so.

I have a few questions for you, hopefully you won't mind answering. If you do, then too bad for me.

    1) Could you explain what is a "Mini Launch?"

    2) Also what is the difference between a "Video Squeeze Page" and a normal "Squeeze Page" other than the obvious?

    3) You said you would send your subscribers emails for months. What did you write about in all those emails that did not turn your subscribers off and kept them reading your emails? I read in another thread the 4 to 1 ratio was a good one to follow. In other words, you would send them 4 emails supplying little tidbits of quality information for what ever subject you were promoting and on the 5th you would attempt to sell them again. Is this what you did?

    Thanks Bill

    Nice work.

Are you also continuing to monetize your list with affiliate offers, or (better) creating more products to sell to your subscribers and buyers?

Now that you know you have a responsive list. Make sure you maximize it. Money left on the table is lost forever....

    1) Could you explain what is a "Mini Launch?"
The way I would describe it is to take a segment of your list, create about 3 to 5 emails building up to a certain day or event (like a special price or a special pricing with bonuses), let them know the space is limited, let them know why you are doing it. You do this over about 3 to 5 emails over about 1 week or so and then BOOM - the day, hour, and minute comes and people are waiting with their finger on the "buy now" button. I am doing one right now for my entire list and it happens on Saturday morning at 10am EST. I won't even be near a computer at that time - I will be tailgating at a ballgame and then going to the game. Everything is already set up on my autoresponder.

    2) Also what is the difference between a "Video Squeeze Page" and a normal "Squeeze Page" other than the obvious?
The most obvious difference is the video. However, there's more - the video MUST be compelling and MUST contain the basics of a sales message to get people to WANT whatever it is you are offering. A regular squeeze page has to have a lot of text. A VSP only needs an optin form and the video.

Simple - high quality content that they are searching for. The higher the content quality and the more personal you are in your emails, like this

"Hey Sam, I was just reading over some brand new stuff on bullet-reloading and came across this unusual technique to load powder.... here it is: _______ tell me what you think"

And when the sales message comes, it almost needs to be like an afterthought in most messages - but in every 7 or 8 - you need something more hard hitting in my opinion.

    Hope this helps,
    Mike

At this point I have one product with over 8000 subscribers on the prospect list and I just finished developing another and have almost 200 on that list. That product is not launched yet.

NOTICE: I am building a list for a product that I am not even selling yet!!!! Get it?

I have heard that list building is the most important. I am a relatively new blogger and a little while after I started I added a form to by blog for people to subscribe. Well I didn't get any subscribers. Truthfully I thought to myself why are people going to subscribe to me as they know I am new. So anyways I decided to take down the form and just try to build up some quality content. So thats what I have been doing. I will eventually put up the form again to get some subscribers as I believe you are right it is a good way to make money on the internet, but right now I am going to focus on content.

What I have learned is though is that inorder for people to subscribe people need to trust you and believe in you. You need to communicate to them and share with them and build a lasting relationship with them. You do this by building quality content and communicating to your visitors though comments. The process may be slow but I believe it works. So my concentration right now is building quality content for my visitors. Share with them my knowledge. Show them things I know. Build a relationship with them.

    Good luck to everyone!

What reason are you giving them to opt-in? It's more than just trust - they HAVE to have a reason to opt-in.

    I call this opt-in bait.

Say you offer a free report - something like

"Learn the 7 Secrets To XXX For Free! Just Enter Your Name And Email Address In The Box And You'll Be Sent That Report Straight Away!"

    It's very effective with video...

"Hey, my name is Jim, thanks for Coming to my site!

What I have for you is a the #1 Secret to XXX and I want to give it to you today.

You need this secret because it will do XXXX in a short time and reallly help you with XXX.

To get it, just enter your name and email in the box to the right and I'll send you the secret straight away!"

That is the key to getting them to opt-in.

    Rob
I was going to say that but you beat me to it Rob! EXACTLY - no one is going to just fill in a form for the heck of it - give them a totally unresistable reason!
