AliExpress - Drop Ship or Affiliate?

I have an idea for a niche store where I'd be selling products from AliExpress. I was originally thinking of drop shipping products straight from the site but after doing some research it sounds like dealing with shipping times, returns, counterfeits, etc is a serious hassle.

I noticed their affiliate program pays pretty decent commissions, but all the prices are so cheap you still wouldn't be making much per conversion. Plus I don't know how trustworthy they are about paying out. Does anyone have any experience in this arena they could share?

    drop shipping can be a nightmare when it comes to customer service..

    remember, all they have is YOU if their product is late or of poor quality

    I have first hand experience drop shipping,

    yes it was successful but i ended up dreading to open my business email every morning


    in my case, the product creator provided an amazing product, just the shipping was late once in a while.

      That's what I figured. Multiply that 100x for drop shipping from China I'd imagine.

      You CAN outsource customer service / order managmenet

      AND

      To avoid China-based long distance product issues, go through a WHOLESALER that's US-based

      Dropshipping CAN make money within tight niches

        everything you said is true..

        but again, you are at the mercy of the wholesaler

        and dont make the mistake of equating a good quality product with their ability to ship on time.

        just playing devil's advocate from my own experience

        People are talking about making good money by drosphipping without being aware of the massive margins available by importing small quantities direct from manufacturers.

        Can dropshippers make 300%, 500% or even a lot more?

        I have taught hundreds how to safely source small quantities without a big cash outlay.

    I do believe you can make good money drop shipping from AliExpress, I'm more wondering if it's worth the headache. Or if its better to just promote the products as an affiliate.
