So I am trying this experiement......

I decided to take one of my websites and just focus on one really good keyword phrase instead of a different phrase per page.

Since I am using the same keyword phrase for ALL pages, when building my backlinks should I target different pages on the site or is it ok just to focus the link on the home page.....
I know normally links are build to different pages but since I just have the one keyphrase is it wasted effort?

TY!

    A couple of questions:

    1. Why have you decided to concentrate on only one page?
    2. Would there be any benefit to concentrate on individual pages.

It really is hard to fully make recommendations for you without knowing the sie and the pages.

It is advisable to get list your home page first, then it is better to move to sub pages of your site.

The good part of that strategy is that your site will be very tightly focused on one major theme. Google loves that!

The bad news is that you really limit yourself. If the keyword doesn't generate much traffic every month, you may end up feeling like you did a lot of work for not much payoff, even if you do rank high.

As with most things, it really comes down to keyword choice.

I would still focus my link building on the homepage. Make sure the other pages have links from them back to your homepage, though. That's just smart internal linking strategy. Depending on the level of competition for that keyword, you should be able to rank high with your test site. Again, the very tight focus seems to please the Google gods.

Hmmm I am sure I should know this but I don't
How do I make sure the other pages link back to my homepage? Do you mean actually put a link to each homepage on every page? For example at the bottom of a post put a link back to the main page. Or just have a place to click back to home page in the header at the top.

Just make sure you have a "home page" link on each page. Like if you click on the WF logo above it goes back to the homepage.

I am curious why do you have to have this? And what if the link was labeled "ABOUT" instead of your keywords, does that do any good?

It's not a good idea to focus all your pages on just one word. Yes, have a main keyword that fits in with the theme of your site and funnel your internal links for this keyword to your index page, but don't optimize all your pages for the one keyword. Variations of the keyword or related keywords might work well but not the same one.

I do this all the time, one blog one keyword massive traffic.

you can set up a new blog for each keyword, I usually have around 30-50 blogs per niche each focused around one keyword, all with about 5 articles on them, with one focus, if I want them to click to an opt in page I only give them that option,

if I want them to click to an affiliate page I only give them that option.

in some niches I get up to 50 thousand visitors a month using this strategy...

see for yourself. most of the people who responded to this post are just analyzing it, without speaking from any real experience. best method ids to always test it out and see for your self

      Nick I'm loving this info...

Yes give them the option to click on what YOU want them to click on per blog... I always thought you needed 10+ articles per blog minimum, but I guess it depends on the niche. You have my gears turning now, thanks.

I love this idea Nicholas which is why I wanted to try it on one of my blogs.

    A few questions...
~ So lets pretend your niche was an acne niche. Would you have 30-50 blogs about acne where you cover the topic in general or 30-50 blogs about a acne each with a different slant? So one blog might be keyworded "hormone acne" another blog "acne pills"

~So you would send your traffic to one particular page on the blog. If you have Home page, page a, page b, page c. You would select a page such as c and always send them to page c?

~Is your slant mostly adsense, affiliate products or ?

~What type of niches are these? Products? Problem Solving? etc.

~ How many searches does a keyword have to have that you would select for your focus?
    Competition?

~Are you selling the same product at each of these 30-40 blogs per niche and are you selling more than one product?

    Thanks!

What i do is set up a blog for a particular keyword and rank for that keyword. I know its a lot of work but its better in the long term. I try to follow the article marketing rule of not more than 20000 competition.

    @Nicholasb

can you expand more on your post. Thanks

This is a great thread (& on the free part of WF=Awesome!) I have to bump this so Nicholas or others who do this may expand on this.

I have a couple niches I've went after but never attacked so thoroughly as LilBlackDress is going to and how Nicholas has.
