Questions for Squidoo Gurus

I have a couple of Squidoo lenses that have never done anything for me. I get a click through every few months, and I've never sold anything. When I put them there it was mainly for the backlinks which are pretty juicy for the time they took to get.

Now I'm thinking that maybe I have a potential resource in those lenses. Say I were to invest some time into making them cool and informative. How do you go about promoting the Squidoo lenses? Join groups on Squidoo? Link to them from your blogs (defeating the purpose for me)? Other?

Thank you kindly in advance for the excellent advice that I know is coming.

    I think you just need a good niche.

    Same as everything else online.

    If you invent a made up word and do a squidoo lens for it and then people search for it up it pops straight away. While this isn't useful it does explain niche marketing.

    If you do a squidoo lens for "washingmachine" and one for "washingmachine repair guide" you will find the long lens will appear higher in search results because less people have optimized for this keyword.

    I'm hoping Your not an expert who is reading this and calling me names. But -
    If your a beginner it's a good way of thinking of niche marketing.

    My view is that the backlinks are the main benefit of Squidoo. I would minimise any places for traffic to go on from Squidoo from, other than to your site. So, you might not see much money on Squidoo itself, but hopefully you'll see the returns on your own site.

    A lot of people make a lot of money with Squidoo like Tiffany Dow. Read her blog.

    To promote your lens, do marketing for it like any other website , bookmarks and backlinks. Squidoo likes you to participate so comment on other peoples lenses, etc too.
