What Is The Twitter Follower Daily Allowance?

Hi Everyone, Sandy here..

As of 09/09/09, how many new followers can be added daily to each Twitter account
before being suspended or deleted?

I'm asking out of curiosity for all of the automated Twitter
friend adders I've been seeing promoted here and there.

Please just list the daily amount allowed if you don't mind.
Not the pros and cons of them.
I already have knowledge of the ins and out of the different software.

I'm basically looking for the amount I can follow per day
without having my account disappear.

Thanks very much,
Sandy

I think it is 500 people maximum to follow in any 24 hours EST

I haven't ever hit a limit unfollowing people

      Thanks for your reply Michael,

Yeah, I don't think there is any limit to 'un'follow.

I do know there is a limit on the amount you can follow
      in a 24 hour period.
I just don't know exactly what that is.

        Hi Sandy

If I were you I wouldn't mess with any automated methods for following people. Either do it manually or have an outsourced worker manually add a few for you each day.

Twitter has (and will continue to be) doing a major crackdown on a lot of the automated follow methods -- including terminating accounts that do too much of it.

    Hi Sandy,

I set up a new account to see what I could do with automation.

I added 400 "friends" from other marketers on day one, a further 400 on day two and 1000 two days later. After a couple of days I unfollowed all those who did not follow me and on the next day I was banned. During this time I posted a few "normal" tweets and no marketing ones. Before I was banned I gained about 900 followers.

    So I went too far.

    Regards, Clive

    Hi Sandy,

    Twitter have a few limits.

    • 1,000 updates per day
    • 250 direct messages per day
    • 150 API requests per hour
The follow limit for 1 day 1000.

Most tools that claim massive numbers are likely to get your account banned.

I created my own with the limits built in so that I can't break the limits but I have a decent amount of automation.

It's not hard to get new followers so there's no need to go crazy.

Also, despite what some people will tell you, you don't have to treat Twitter as a numbers game. It's more effective to build quality relationships with people you can interact with than just get thousands of random people who are just there to spam you with links.

Getting too many of the wrong type of followers will lessen your enjoyment of Twitter too.
