Question - Affiliate no wifi traffic is allowed

Hi there,

I am figuring out some affiliate networks, I have read that:

>> wifi traffic is allowed. sometimes disallowed.
>> 3G traffic is allowed. sometimes disallowed.

I have some questions:

1- How do they know I am using wifi, or 3G?
2-In my house, I have a traditional internet cable subscription, and I am connected that internet cable to a tplink router, and all devices get internet via this router.
Is this consider as wifi? Do you think they will band it as well.

Thanks indeed

Thank you, It is a technical issue and not all affiliate managers can help. They might use certain tool or software to manage that.

I asked the question here in this forum to get the answer from technical perspective.

They have NO way of telling if you are using wifi.

Your wireless connection is wireless only between your local device (i.e. PC) and the router. From that point, your connection is a wired connection from the router, through your cable modem, to your ISP (in your case a cable carrier) and beyond.

There is no difference in the protocol from your router to the cable modem, and your router probably also has the ability to connect to your device(s) via standard cat5 cable.

3G is is a cell phone protocol and may/may not be identifiable.
I don't have enough expertise in 3G to be able to offer any qualified answer in that regard.

    Hope this helps,

Your best bet is to speak with your Am for questions like these.

Merchants have tools and scripts to detect if you're on wifi or cellular based on IP address and other factors.

    Yes that sounds like wifi.
