Is There Such a Thing as a Free Business?

I've been a traffic reseller and I find that it works.

I also have a friend who does dropshipping using eBay.

I find that using highly-visited sites to resell stuff works quite well. I also think that sharing openly and unselfishly also benefits everyone.

So...do you think that there's such a thing as a free or no-cost business and what has worked for you?

Bootstrapping a business is possible, it's just not usually easy.

Cost of working capital, listing fees, selling fees, payment processing fees, labor costs, time costs...

I don't see a "free" business in the examples you listed.

I personally think this is a disaster and horrible idea. If you want to make money, there are ways you can cut costs, but in the end - it takes money to make money. If you won't invest into your business, why should anyone else?

All businesses will have expenses to some extent. I just don't see any way around it. Maybe you can use some free services to start with (like the free mailchimp account), but as your business grows, you'll outgrow those free services and need to start paying. Like the old saying goes, you need to spend money to make money.

    Hows it going man?

    Really awesome post.

In my opinion and speaking on what has worked for me, doing things for free first actually does pay off - but you have to do it right.

As the saying goes, you have to give to receive and this is 100% true. Especially if you are launching a lead magnet or creating a product.

On the other hand, you will need to monitor the so called "tire kickers" who will put in a fake email just to get access to the awesome, free value that you're offering.

Overall, I think it's best to launch a paid product or actually spend some money upfront to save you the headache of dealing with a list full of people who don't buy anything. .. been there done that.

    Anyways, just my two cents.

    Great post man :-)

No, there is no such free business

You either pay money or you pay time I prefer pay money over time, because you can always make more money, but you can never make more time

    yes, there are.

but the cost of FREE is great.

you usually end up paying for it with your time and effort.

I know a mommy blogger that has a free website and she creates content on that site. She also participates in the mommy community and drives traffic to her "free" site.

but at the end of the day she doesnt own what she creates. She is like a peasant working some nobel's land.

i recommend she buys her own domain but for some reason she has this mental block. "building my own site is too difficult!!" - she thinks..

    its a shame

Time is the most expensive resource and it's much more valuable than money.

So if you spend your time on a business, even without any capital, you can't truly say that it's a "free business", because we can always make money, whenever we lose it on something, but the time can never be reclaimed.

There are many so called "FREE" business in the IM field and almost all will fail. Why? because people do not have a vested interest in said business
