Customer messaging options like Amazon etc? Not chat

Do companies like Amazon or other large online business' use regular email for communication or some other software or plug in?

I am developing a Wordpress site and will be using a VA but it scares me to have one person who could literally wipe out my whole contact list and emails from thousands of customers..

What are they using?

Companies like Amazon probably have a whole department dedicated to developing all the programs they use.

You can restrict/limit access to users in WP. You can give you VA limited access.
