Combining reviews into a Best of page

I have been lurking these forums from time to time, but recently I started my own website. It's not a niche site but has reviews and guides in it.

My biggest competitors have these long landing pages with 5k to14k pages with guides, best of , and reviews one after another with no table of contents.

I copied their style and combined all my reviews on the landing page. I didn't delete the other pages. should I delete them or 301 them?

Did I make a mistake?

Be sure to read the affiliate details carefully, for whatever you're promoting.

For example, I owned some profitable sites which gave really useful information to potential buyers by summarizing user-reviews for those products. My Amazon affiliate account was closed because it is now against their rules to quote any user-review, or user-rating, or to summarize or generalize about anything like that (unless you use their API). So combining reviews would get your affiliate account closed, for Amazon.

Thanks a lot for reply Chris.

I didn't quote and user reviews. I combined my reviews on one page.
For example I had 7 different reviews of shoes. Different brands and models of shoes, each with his own page/post. I combined all those reviews and made a Best Shoes page, made it my landing page.

Should I delete or 301 the individual review pages? or should I just go back to old style with shorter landing page with a Best Shoes list with links to reviews. I am more worried about google than Amazon since I wrote all my reviews. Individual review pages ranking much higher google than my best of page.

Google hates content duplication, so my best advice is to capture your reviews into photos and put them on your landing page with backlinks.

You have answered your own question really!

Original content will always get more Google love.
Keyword targeted pages will usually rank better than pages with no focus.

If your individual pages are outranking your 'best' page then repeat what is working. Focus your attention on promoting the individual pages and creating more of the same.

Not a good plan to have duplicate content on your site maybe the 'best' page should just have a very short 'excerpt' from other reviews with links to theindividual pages rather than complete reviews.
