Is Google Plus Useful for Marketing.

Hi all, Ive been hearing loads about Google Plus and the wonders it can do for marketing your business online.

The only thing is, I dont use it and I dont actually know of anyone who does.

Maybe its because Im out of touch, and may be its because I dont have enough friends. Or maybe they are keeping me in the dark. But my point is; can google plus actually be that relevant if it has yet to permeate popular culture to the point where I havent even heard it being used in casual conversation even once.

Im sure that if you talk to the right people they will have heard of it and might even have used it. But if a social media platform is to be in any way effective then It surely has to push past the hip, in the know crowd and permeate the everyday consumers.

Is anyone here familiar with the platform and has used it for marketing their business? How does it work? Is it usefull for engaging consumers? How would you rate in compared to the obvious ones like FB Twitter and Instagram for usability and reach?

Does the platform allow for a hightly targeted approach to reaching your consumers based on location, age and likes the same way that facebook will allow?

Cheers Guys.

    Hey there!

    Good thread!

A lot of people dismiss this and don't use it because they have no idea how to use it!

It's really powerful, the key to this like any social interaction is build a following

but then interact in the community circles, comment and interact

I'm going to let you in on a little secret. The cool thing about google plus is that you can contact people/advertise to their inbox directly. You lookup people in a specific niche on google plus, add them, and then you mention them in your post or whatever. Boom! They get an email notification delivered to their inbox. They are redirected to your post (which is your advertisement or link) and you make money. It's pretty easy if you're just starting out and don't have a list, but not many people click on those notifications. Unless they actually use Google Plus. So make sure if you do it, you add active users. It's worth a try.

  • Hi There,

Google+ is an incredibly powerful tool. For starters, G+ pages automatically get ranked higher in Google searches, which is obviously a good thing. If you're in a niche where most people and businesses don't use G+ this is particularly powerful. You can quickly propel your business to the top of many Google searches by consistently posting your news updates and blog posts to G+.

To actually get community interaction you're going to have to start by participating in some circles. If you contribute thoughtful, informative content on a regular basis and interact with people respectfully they will be happy to interact with you. Of course, some circles are more active than others, so it may take you a while to find suitable circles.

The key thing to remember is that Google+ is, well, Google. Anyone who has a Gmail account automatically has a G+ account made for them. Many don't really use the service, but when there are billions of people signed up, even a tiny fraction of that number makes a significant community.

Long story short, G+ shouldn't be your first priority, but it also shouldn't be your last--and it definitely shouldn't be ignored altogether.
