I am currently using facebook group application to gather my targeted customer... I think it is a good way to generate leads as you can message all group members and link them to your website.

I have a group with 2000 members targeted members. However, to increase your conversion rate, you need engage them and build trust...

My 2 cents.

I've just ventured into this myself. I've created a 'page' and gained a few fans for my website, and will gradually build to regular updates, as well as interaction.

Does anyone know if there's any limitation to adding affiliate links as favourites to a Facebook page?

As we are gathering the niche market members in a group, you can only talk and link them to site that are relevant to the group. You can't simply spam people with any sites which are irrelevant or your members will leave...

One thing good about facebook marketing is the message send from group to members will reach your inbox and won't go into junk mail.

I am using a simple Facebook page with an RSS feed from the main site to drive traffic to the site. Works a treat and fully automated too

To answer some questions about how I automated my Facebook page...

The actual page is at

nnn.facebook.com/pages/Thrifty-Pages/46001544580

(I have changed the www to nnn to avoid linking from here - change it back for the link)

I use the Social RSS application for this to provide an RSS/Blog tab that works nicely:

Social RSS | Facebook

If you want, you could connect you blog to Twitter using twitterfeed.com and Facebook will use this Twitter feed to update the wall. For my page I prefered the tab approach as I have a direct link to the website (and my advertisers!) from the wall...

There are others ways you could use the wonderful magic of RSS for this too... be creative!

Sounds like an interesting idea. Might be good to use an RSS feed to display recent submissions in my case.

My question about affiliate links was mainly for use within 'send update to fans' messages, and those posted as notes. The products I refer to are all creative writing related, so would slide nicely in to the subject matter.

From my experience with Facebook groups, it would always be a good idea to put a good tip and lengthy copywriting about your topic, in this case, creative writing, and then put the affiliate link at the bottom of the page before you send out the update. This is to make it look less spammy as you have given some tips before selling them. Hope that I am answering in the right context yeah.

I think you got to engage 1st by giving free things out to members so that they trust you as an expert...

However, I think that creating a fan page can be difficult if you are nobody. Because not many ppl will join.

Hi Katiec,

If you are a new business, you may want to start FB Group, as the psychology behind an FB Group is that "We are Peers" and that "We are equals" as Group members.

If you are an established business, you may want to start a FB Fan Page. This is because, Fan gives the subconscious connotation of a "Slave Master" relationship. Apart from that, it is also very uncomfortable for a person to join a "Fab Page" rather than a Group.
