Don't steal peoples bandwidth...

One thing thing, out of many, I don't like it when people link to my images. After all, it costs me bandwidth and server resources.

So since we can now post images, we should be careful about linking to images on others servers w/out permission.

And this is why I have a domain dedicated to hosting images for external use!

Thank you for mentioning it, Garrie.

Not only is it stealing bandwidth when people on forums link to
your images, but they are also violating your copyright on those
    images.

So before we all go crazy finding awesome pics on other people's
websites to put in our posts here, we should be thoughtful about
what we are doing to others.

I only mentioned it because *I* almost did it.

Are people actually doing that here? Most people posting pix seem to be using their own, which would make it unlikely.

If someone was going to steal from me, bandwidth would be my first choice, since it's so cheap. Certainly better than having my articles and products stolen. But wouldn't people be more likely to just copy the images rather than linking to them, making it harder to realize they had done anything?

Most would link to them because its faster.

Most think its ok too because of the context. On another forum, there are litterly thousands of topics w/ 10s of thousans hot linked images. Just cutesy type pics.

Of course in all honesty, I dont care if people do or not.

    Garrie,

If that's a problem you're having then enable Hotlink Protection on those files.
