If you had $1000 to start off with. How would you use it to kickstart an online marketing venture?

I'm open to anything. Affiliate marketing, CPA, WSOs, Face Book Ads.. whatever.

The best way will be to build a website, promote it and then put ads on it and start to earn money.
You can invest your money in paying people to build your site and to pay for SEO (if you don't know how to do it by yourself).
I made my site (in my signature) two years ago by myself. It is quite successful, and I earn money from the ads placed on site, but it took me a lot of time and effort to reach this point.

I'd source the cheapest weight loss supplement I could find for $4.17 per bottle (minimum 50 bottles). Set up a funnel with click funnels. Drive traffic with Facebook ads.

    Product costs: $208.50 + shipping and/or fulfillment
    Click Funnels: $97.00 per month

That leaves $694.50 to spend on design and ads.

How do you have a "budget" without a business idea? That's like saying you've got 20 gallons of gas, now where should you go? The business determines the budget, not the other way around.

And a budget of $1,000 is neither here nor there. If you're just looking for a cash-producing hobby, you might only need a hundred or so to get going. A business could require funding of several thousand.

Choose what you want to do first, then work out what your budget needs to be.

There is a big world outside of IM / MMO niche and nor is it required that you sell anything, to make money.

For the the past 16+ years, I have been promoting PPL (pay per lead...lead generation) offers.

The reason why is simply because there is no credit card required / no purchase necessary for a user to complete an offer. All they have to do is fill out a form, so the conversion rates are typically much higher, than offers that require a sale to be made.

I favor PPL offers that have a make, get or save money benefit to them, as this is what has overall worked best form. As they tend to have the greatest mass appeal (will be of interest to a very large audience), so the potential to produce high volume exists. Plus, I have always found them easy to cross promote.

Most of the offer that I promote pay $20-$40 But there are good offer that pay pay less and more. I have run offers that have paid under $10 to several hundred dollars per lead. However, the payout alone is not what is important. You also have to look at your average conversion rate. An offer paying $9, that is converting at 2x+ of a $20 offer will perform about the same. However, a $90 offer may convert so poorly, that it may not be worth running. So just because someonething pay more, is a guarantee it will make you more money. You have to test!

Some of the verticals I have done extremely well with are: insurance, education, mortgage, credit, debt, loans, homeowner offers, etc...

To me, it is all about the path of least resistance to getting conversions / $$$. It is far easier to get someone to fill out a form, than it is to take out their credit card and buy something.

    Anyway, something to think about,

If I had a $1000 budget the first thing I would do is read up on all the different methods out there, then choose a proven method. Not some NEW SHINY OBJECT. You are building a business so stick with the tried and true methods. Honestly if you have 1k to invest then purchase a reputable course on the method of your choice and use the remaining budget to take action on that plan. I started off in ecommerce, and I actually spent about $1200 on facebook ads before I was actually making profits! I made my first sale after about $500... in reality 1k isn't much, just depends on what you choose to run with. The best advice I can give you is to stick with one method and master it before moving onto anything else. Don't jump around spending money on different things. Good luck!

    Nope. Start a video business.

I don't work for these guys or anytihng but this stuff works.
White Label Reseller Solution - 100% Custom Whiteboard Videos, Animation & Video Scribing

It helps me make money. Get them to setup a page for you and then get on craigslist and hire a sales force of 10-20 who work on commissions.

Setup a payroll software and release your salesforce.
Give yourself a 40% profit margin and pay them $100-200 per sale. They need to sale 10 a week for them to make 1,000 dollars. You have 10 guys selling 10 a week and you profit 200 per video then you do the math. Boom.

If you make this work then please donate to my special project.
I make money doing this myself but spend in life and work 2 days a week.
My side project is making movies and cartoons. LOL. Okay don't donate but try this idea with your 1,000 dollars.

Hey OP. If you're open to anything then just do your own research and pick a method that you feel most comfortable with. The answers you'll get for asking such questions will just be "Blogging, List building, YouTube, CPA, Etc Etc". It won't go anywhere and definitely will not help you.

$1,000 is a decent "Low Budget" range so keep that in mind when picking a method.

You can start by figuring out what you really want to do, pick one category whether its cpa marketing, product creation , affiliate marketing, or whatever u decide, and when u do decide, find someone who is an expert in the field you are trying to learn, and learn from them, otherwise you might as well give that thousand dollars away.

Hi, you made a good start by asking for advice at WF! There are two aspects to your question:
    1) the method to market your product and
    2) what you're going to market, i.e.,, your niche.

The how part is fairly straightforward. In my view, there's two types of marketing:

    1) one where you're always spending money for traffic to seek out potential customers/affiliates and
    2) one where you're attracting customers to you, like building a website about, say, martial arts, that promotes you as an authority in the subject and attracts people interested in the subject.

The first method can bring in more money more quickly but has less growth potential. The second is slower to bring in money BUT it will continue to grow your authority on the Internet and expand your potential for sales.

There are also other considerations: For example, you can make money particularly quickly with affiliate marketing because it does not involve making your own product to sell and is often accompanied with pre-made sales funnels and advertising materials. However, if you make your own product, like an information product (ebook) or app, it will take longer but all the profits are yours.

Fast, good, cheap - pick two :-(

That being said, the MAIN THING is what subject interests you? What niche will keep you interested while you research all its aspects and find out who your competitors are and what they are doing and why? What topic can you read about day after day without getting bored? What subject makes you excited when you talk about it to friends? THAT is the niche you should select.

Because you're going to have days when you're discouraged and wondering wtf and if you're not passionate about your subject, it's that much easier to just give up. So think first about your niche and THEN consider your method.

    Good luck!

P.S. It's really easy to piss away $1000 in marketing. Facebook ads and Adwords are notorious for being money pits, so watch out for these, unless you know what you're doing.

First of all, you should tell us more about you: your skills, your ambitions and dreams, your pasions, otherwise all the advice we can give you will not have any context at all.

If you really want to spend all that money, I will say that the first step is to find a niche and start working on that, you can really make some good investments on ads and stuff like that.

It depends on what Youreally want to do. Do you have time to spare or are you looking for $1000 to pay someone else to do it for you (in which case don't bother as you will lose your $1000 and get nowhere).
Personally I would build a product and a website, then spend some money on social media advertising, get an ROI, re-invest, improve the product offering etc and keep going from there.

In terms of budget - you really only need a fraction of that to get started - hosting, domain name and autoresponder are the only essentials required. You can get all of those for $20 per month.

I would then decide which of the many ways to make money online is best for your personal skills. Then invest some of your own time to get the ball rolling. When you start making money, you can invest cash in scaling things up.

For example, some people are great writers so choose to blog (throwing affiliate promotions, or advertising revenue into the mix), others are great presenters so choose to vlog or create funny videos, others are fantastic teachers and go down the product creation route. There's no one size fits all solution.

If you choose to blog and see your posts gaining some traction, you can then outsource articles to scale things up. Likewise if you choose video, you can invest in better equipment or animated intros to improve your channel and so on...

Really, as a blank canvas, it's almost impossible to advice you because there's millions of ways to spend $1000. One person could advise you to spend $1000 on Alibaba products to sell on Ebay while someone else could advise you to spend it on having a information product created for you to sell. The reality is, both ways to could succeed or fail, depending on you, because there's always some of your own knowledge required. That's why I'd always suggest deciding which method best suits you before spending money.

    What are you interested in.

Would having to write, say, five blog posts a week, drive you crazy.

Or would you rather write one short kindle book per week.

What other places do you hang out on line--what are your interests.

Once you figure this out--pick one of those interests--then figure out what business model suits you--not just the one you think will make you the most money.

For example, I love have one big project to work on--like a blog--while other people, would prefer setting up a site--buying traffic--making it profitable--and then moving on to another site.

Lastly, don't get stuck in the research phase forever though, pick a niche--pick a method you think you can stick with

    And get started.

    Hope this helps.

I would find a niche that you are interested in and then create a FB group. Give good advice and manage that group. THen you should start a list and tell people in your group about it. THen find affiliate offers or create your own product or guide.
If you go with your own product, I would build an affiliate center (A site for affiliates only.) Offer 100% commissions and build a buyers list. Rinse and repeat. Or build out a marketing funnel with high and low ticket offers.

55 isn't to old to start as long as you enjoy learning curves. IF I were you and had $1000 to spend I would go with my own product. Hire out what you don't know how to do, and focus on your product.

The answer to your question really depends on what you bring to the table. For instance, if you happen to have a specialized level of knowledge of expertise in a topic people are genuinely interested in, then product creation would be the way to go. This could be something related to the industry you work in (which was how I got started and quickly built my way from 0 to a 6-figure income in under 2 years), or personal interest you are passionate about (and other people are too).

Affiliate marketing or CPA offers is probably your best bet if you dont bring that kind of specialized knowledge with you. Your only cost is to run paid traffic, and your time. It takes some money to learn to run paid traffic (a few good courses, and then the money to experiment with campaigns), but if you can master that skill, you can write your own ticket for the rest of time.

Back in the day, the easy answer would have been "Blogging", but unless you REALLY know what you are doing, that ship has now sailed. I had an authority blog that made $50,000 a year for a decade -- just on Adsense alone (and I had other revenue streams as well). It was filled with my own unique, original quality traffic that my visitors loved - but I could go MONTHS at a time without adding anything new, and literally make $200-$300 a day, every day, on auto-plot, in my sleep, without touching it. Unfortunately, in the last few years Adsense payouts have really declined, for a lot of reasons, including the fact that so many people are using Ad Blockers, so its not the gravy train it used to be.

So I guess, my best advice to you would be - take that $1000 and use it to learn how to MASTER paid traffic (primarily PPC or small media buys). From then on you'll essentially be able to print your own money. There are so many ways to earn a living online, but it all starts with traffic. That's obviously at the very root of it all. You can have an amazing, high demand product or offer that delivers solid value and solves people's problems - but it can do nothing for you if you don't know how to get traffic to it.

    Hope this helps!

Keep following up with people who don't respond.

In 3 months you will have at least 5 clients if you send out 30 emails a day.

The idea here is to write personalized emails which actually provide value.

    Hope that helps!

My spam box literally contains thousands of these...

My advice to the OP is keep that money in your pocket until you know what you need to spend it on, by learning first.

Id first learn about how to drive traffic and convert that traffic into leads and sales. Once you master that then you can scale up. Learn about a marketing or traffic method that you like and then always start small with your advertising to make sure both your landing page and website converts.

Id go with PPC with one of the major networks because it is some of the most targeted traffic you can get based on your keywords.

Yes, if you choose to blog and see your posts gaining some traction, you can then outsource articles to scale things up.

Forget the money to invest. Find the right niche. Then market to that niche in a way that works for them.
