Are plugins and analytics allowed on free blogs?

I started using a couple of free blogs to get a little more exposure for a site I am promoting. They are the free wordpress, and blogger blogs. I don't seem to be able to find a way to load any plugins or google analytics on them.

I use wordpress all the time on my own domains so I am familiar with it. Do the free blogs not allow this on their sites. The support forums on both sites have several people who have been asking the same question for quite a while now, with no reply, so I guess I am not the only one wondering.

    I have a blogger account, and you simply sign up for Google Analytics, and it will give you a code that you can paste into the HTML code of your blog layout right before the < / b o d y > tag. My analytics works like a charm on my free blogger blog.

    Hey Glenn,

    I thought I had the solution for you to install google analytics on a free wordpress direct blog, but turns out the instructions were old and no longer work.

    Have you tried looking at the Blog Stats link in the dashboard? Probably not the best stats, but better than none.

    All you really need to know though is, are these free sites getting your main site any traffic, which you can find out in your own domains google analytics. Or is it an affiliate link you're promoting in these free blogs?

      It's an affiliate link paul. I don't see a way to get to the page code in these free blogs so I can install the analytics code. I don't think it is allowed.

        Sorry for this misleading information. I simply thought it was for your own personal domain that you were looking to check the stats on.

        I'm not sure if affiliate links are allowed, and judging by your trying, I'm guessing it isn't.
