Create A Transportaion Website/Apps such as Uber

Greetings to everyone

This my first tread and I'm looking forward to seeing your awesome and favorable responses in anticipation.
To start with, I have a vision to creating a Taxi/Bus website and apps such as "Uber" where commuters can order their ticket online without going to queue up at the bus station.

I need it to be clean, easily accessible yet with advance functionality. Also, users ought to choose their specs. For instance, Users while booking their tickets should be provided with various options to choose from. e.g.. A/c or Non-A/c Bus, 6 or 12 sitters Bus, Private taxi and to name a few.

Although i haven't got this vehicles myself, but I've already sent out proposal to many transport companies in my locality assuring them that this site would come to live in a few months and would however charge a flat rate of 5% as commission fee for every successful tickets ordered and some of the companies have already acquiesced to let me a try.

Furthermore, I've gone as far as sending proposals to individuals whom i thought could help fund-raise to further this project and to my amazement I have two (2) personalities who are desperately willing to invest. Sincerely, I suppose this two people will be a catalyst to the speedy execution of this project.

MY fellow Warriors, I really need your support at this juncture, how do i go about this? ranging from site design, hosting, apps, payments integration and scripts. etc.. I'm currently using name-cheap for my blog. would it suffice?
would it be right if i use purchased script or code from scratch? is wordPress preferable for this?

please, i really need your expert response as it is somewhat urgent.

i guarantee a tip to my best guider.

Kindest Regards

I hope you have deep pockets or at least a few wealthy investors. The estimated cost to develop the Uber app is more than $1 million. But its not just the app, you still have the backend (the brains of the app) that needs developing. You also need a lot of server space to handle the customer traffic. You also need integrated payment processing. And it all has to be very secure. Using free scripts or cheap ones won't cut it. You'll need experienced developers who can build your idea from the ground up. Namecheap won't even begin to cover what you're looking for. Uber has dedicated servers.

Honestly, while I admire your ambition, I think you're underestimating how much work and money went into Uber.

Hey Brad, i agree that you need big pockets to start this business but not for developing the app. The big expense here will be marketing.

The app/script can be done for around 1000$. Of course will not be developed from scratch. There are many scripts out there that specifically do this job. I don't see the point of developing one when there are many options out there you can customize for your needs. I can name 2 uber scripts developed by friends of mine that are Excellent, backend included. I have already used and integrated one, for a taxi-uber/like south american website, which was developed by a friend's company, Nanda from NDot and is probably the best one: TaxyMobility and i recommend it 100% if you decide to go for it.

I like big projects like this but having said that i won't recommend you to get into this business (even if you narrow it down and make it really local) unless you have a lot of money to invest in advertising but good luck to you if you decide to do it

What? Do you know what you're talking about? If you knew, you wouldn't need any help here. Worrying about website/app is just a tiny fraction of your proposed business plan. Can you convince VCs with your plan? Your plan does not seem convincing at all. People who succeeded large ventures usually have had a series of small or big success stories. Do you have any ones?

I'm not sure, but I think that I wrote Terms of Use and Privacy Policy for a similar app. I mean it's not the same, but it's very similar. That's why I think it's not too late to check what is the situation in the market when it comes to these apps. I really don't want to spoil the mood, but this is something that happened to me when I wanted to write a couple of eBooks. It turned out that there were literally hundreds of more or less similar eBooks such as those I intended to write. On the other hand, if you find a similar app that is already successful but for some other field, you can check and use some of the successful concepts and solutions. This was an ungrateful task to judge someone's idea but in a way you asked for it, lol. Good luck!

    Hi:

The bus portion of your idea is already on the market with the Megabus concept. Fares start at $1. People sign up online and pay only a dollar plus applicable taxes during certain time periods. The way they make money is that when people change their plans they have to pay significantly more.

You already have UBER, LYFT, and several local care sharing sites in the major markets (LA, San Fran, NYC, Chicago) up also. There's always room for one more.

Transportation is a good niche, but an expensive one to get going in...

    Good luck,
