What channels should I be using to reach Generation Z?

I know my Gen Xs and my Gen Ys to a tee - but how should I market to Generation Z.

It sounds like a Dr Seuss book, however I am interested what youre using to market to Generation Z.

Born after 1995, I am less familiar with this little posse of people, and being a child of the 80s I am feeling a little old when I market to them at times.

I am using YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, all the usuals and have heard that Gen Z are into Snapchat (not my fav), Whisper (never heard of it) and Secret (eh?) - but where else are you marketing to Generation Zs

My era is The Breakfast Club and E.T., so I need to get with the times a tad.

Thanks for your help.

Got a house full of Gen Z here. They're on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. Oh god the YouTube. YouTube day and night non-stop and they watch little to no TV unless it's background noise. Netflix use is also heavy. The bandwidth easily hits 1.3TB/mth with all the video streaming.

I haven't seen any Whisper, Snapchat or Secret use around here but we could be a unique bunch.

Zero email use unless it's for school or resetting passwords. Everything is iMessage/SMS for communication here. Also, they're extremely savvy about blocking out stuff they don't care for so get used to Ad blockers.

This is a pretty good article on them. https://contently.com/strategist/201...to-know-gen-z/

Wow - man it's like another language.

Tell me more about advertising on Netflix - this definately is something I know Gen Z are into.

Instant messaging too - can we capture the audience much using this?

I'll be reading that article for sure.

I need to channel some Gen Z into my life.

Sorry...No advertising on Netflix...just mentioning it to support the ridiculous amounts of video streaming going on these days. I'm not an innocent party, either. I'm guilty of the Netflix binging as well.

Netflix is my fav. I have seriously binged on Suits like there is no tomorrow.

Wonder when they will start doing ads, seems like all the cable TV stations started out ad free and they eventually get consumed by ads.

          Makes sense I guess.

      Ha!

I know right, does this mean we can't use words like groovy and hip anymore (cue: eyeroll from Gen Z's).

I honestly am so out of touch - I thought I was all across Instagram and now I need to get across another 10 platforms stat.

Snapchat would work great for you. A recent survey found that 30 percent of Snapchat users in the United States were aged between 13 and 17 years.

I honestly can't understand what the fuss about Snapchat is. Is the massive draw card the fact that the messages disappear after they are shown? I'm a little stumped about it really.

Back to Gen Z school for me.

Here you go - this is from Generational Breakdown: Info About All of the Generations – GEN HQ

"Currently, five generations make up our society. Each of those five generations has an active role in the marketplace. Depending on the specific workplace, the workforce includes four to five generations. Here are the birth years for each generation:

iGen, Gen Z or Centennials: Born 1996 and later
Millennials or Gen Y: Born 1977 to 1995
      Generation X: Born 1965 to 1976
Baby Boomers: Born 1946 to 1964
Traditionalists or Silent Generation: Born 1945 and before"

I'm a Gen Y and I only just realised from this that is also classified as a millennial, I've also just learnt about centennials. Who knew!?

Reach them through Youtube! Social wideo is way more important than TV for Generation Z. Gen z are also known to research their interests on YouTube as much as google. They also connect with "digital celebrities", "youtube" stars more than the traditional tv/movie stars the gen x were influenced by.

Here are some articles I found useful.

    http://www.adweek.com/socialtimes/ho...l-media/636574

    https://www.burnthebook.co.uk/blog/m...r-generation-z

Check out these stats about Gen Z - pretty interesting:

    * Generation Z (born 1995-2009) have been connected to technology and the internet from birth
    * Huge influence on spending power - currently $44bn per year
    * Major concern over identity and empowerment; technology allows them to explore this
    * Gen Z multitask across technology platforms and social media - 81% of Gen Z are actively using social media
    * Gen Z has a 0.08s attention span
    * They value communication and an attempt to understand their wants and needs

    Thanks everyone.

I clearly need to sit down and channel my inner 15 year old and do some research. I find it really interesting that the messaging is mainly instant messaging now, wonder what will happen to eMarketing for this group and whether it's even worth it for them...

I have found that perhaps the most effective way to target this demographic currently is using an indirect approach. For example through parents, clergy, school, celebriities, social/environmental causes, entrepreunerial ideas, humorous graphics/videos, etc.

You have to go where Generation Z lives and currently they reside either on social media or their mobile devices. In most cases, they're on their social media while using a mobile device.

The mediums to highly consider are: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Linkedin, iMessage, SMS Text Messaging
