    1.) Write more blog posts
    2.) Build backlinks
    3.) Collect email addresses
4.) Set up social media pages
    5.) Network with other bloggers
6.) Don't expect results within a few weeks

What, I was expecting results now!.

I know it takes time building up a presence, but I have to say, having written my first blog it now like I have toothache! I can't just leave it alone, I keep looking to see if anyone has found it yet. Intellectually I understand my blog is one needle in a gigantic haystack made up of thousands and thousands of needles, but emotionally I feel like my blog is a small child being ignored in the playground!

Many thanks for helping me keep grounded!

Hi Tonya and Tanya: You should immediately create a Face Book page and post to that fan page each time you post to your blog. It will take a while before the world starts to be down your door for your incredible content. That's the nature of free traffic...

    Good Luck,

Thanks for the tip and the encouragement. We are relly new to this and I know it will take time. What has surprided me is how willing people are to give up their knowledge.

After reading your first blog post, it seems as if your blog is set up to detail your affiliate marketing journey.

It seems like you still need to develop a plan and find success with affiliate marketing.

How are you going to make money to post about on your blog and get people to follow it? That is where I'd start.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[10915148].message }}

Hi, that's exactly right. We will be detailing our journey from where we are now, having made no money at all (in fact we have spent out), to how we plan to make money, through to our success!

We certainly have not found success yet, so did not want to be too brazen in our claims. We do have a plan, it's even written out! Over the next few weeks and months we will see if that plan proves to be a winner or if this turns out to be a blog to failure.

"if you're not posting you should be promoting"

There is an 80/20 rule here too ...

Spend 20% of the time creating
... and 80% of the time promoting

Because if you just spend time building it
      ... no-one will come.

You probably want to build it up to about 20 posts in 2 or three categories, so in the beginning try and post once a day or at least every other day. You could probably compose 3 or 4 posts in an hour once you get rolling, then just schedule them for release in the future, this is simple if using wordpress.

If you build it they will come.

First things first, I love your "About us" page! Your story drives empathy. Between an impersonal product page and a real human story, I think more people would be motivated to buy from you.

By the way, your background/connection to IT departments of large companies to "help them improve the quality of their IT projects" can also extend your business to doing affiliate marketing/lead generation for non-competing IT business services. (On some job sites, I keep seeing work for identifying the decision-makers and contact info of people in the IT department. )

There are tons of threads on here to help answer this question.

Hopefully you have a clear marketing strategy, social media accounts and a bit of a plan for sharing content otherwise you are just a blog out in a world of millions.

I have had a quick read of your blog, what is it that you want your readers to do? There doesn't really seem to be a call to action.

Are you wanting people to sign up and follow you, are you wanting people to enquire about more info? Maybe consider adding this in - also what did you want people to comment about and discuss? I understand it is an introductory post however maybe consider adding in some steps for viewers to sign up or follow you at the end.

Thanks, this is such helpful stuff. I guess I had not really clearly thought about what I want them to do beyound read and follow me. I will over the next few blogs have some more direct calls to action when I have thought that through a bit more.

Well it requires a lot of homework and just putting the blog will not turn the trick. Build up some social media following through Facebook or Twitter and put up your content over there as well. It will help a lot to spread the word to many people in the social circle. Also make sure that the quality of your blog is top notch and follows the flow. This is essential because then you can expect people to share your content.

Also make sure that your content is SEO friendly. Keep the title under 120 characters so that people could share it easily. More shares means better ranking. Also use the essential subject words earlier in the title because it's good for your ranking in the search engine.

    Cheers

  • Tony and Tanya,

    Welcome to the forum!

Your About Us content really got me wanting to check back into your blog from time to time - I'm not even actively looking for content about affiliate marketing!

Originally Posted by TonyAndTanya View Post

Simply put - It's all about placing the right content in front of your ideal prospects. That's while they're hanging out in certain online places where they expect to find relevant content and engage in interesting related discussions with other like-minded people ...

So, first thing is to really know your target audience. It's all about them. You should create a profile of your ideal prospects ...

    >> I imagine you'd probably get a good following when you can zone in further on a more specific niche market, say retirees (or soon to be retirees) in (enter your target city / state / country here) who are actively looking for ways to invest in potentially profitable online ventures that can also allow them to learn and do new interesting things (here's where you niche down to specific models and methods, like say promoting affiliate digital products using PPC / PPM and PPV ads in popular social networks like Facebook, Twitter and private advertising in niche Web forums) ...

Second is to find traffic sources teeming with your ideal prospects. Look for online places (or also offline if you want that) where they hang out ...

    >> One method to do this is to spy on heavily trafficked sites that are very popular to your target audience. For example:

Those sites can be owned and operated by your top competitors in your niche. They can have top ranking pages in Google for exact match keyword searches that are most likely used by your ideal prospects when they're looking for relevant content, especially if those keywords have significant search demand from your target locations ...

Tools like SimilarWeb.Com and SpyFu.Com can give you very useful competitor analytics data ...

    >> These tools can show you how each traffic generation method is doing for the sites of your competitors, i.e. 123.com is currently getting X% direct traffic, Y% referral traffic from sites like 456.com and 789.com, Z% organic and paid search traffic for keywords like xxx and yyy, X% social traffic from Facebook and others, and Y% paid display traffic in Google Adwords; and

    >> You can then study what your competitors are doing to get traffic for their sites using each of those methods. You can also confirm if there are any content placement and advertising opportunities for you in their best traffic sources ...

    Hope this helps!

    Get networking on social media
Comment on blogs in the same niche
    Build back links

    That should get you started

  • For starters you need to focus on content curation, once you have submitted enough posts as well as following other like minded blogs you will begin to gain momentum. You must consider this as a reciprocal adventure in order to receive you must give.

    You can do

    SEO

    or Paying Ads.

    But of course: MORE POSTS!

For Seo it's better u study it in a course and it takes time.

For ads, you can study and test, using facebook ads promoted post, where u promote your blog's post.

    BUT

before doing this: use a pop up to do some lead generation, create a list and inform that list of new posts when u'll write them
