Working less hours has made me more profitable.

Go figure.

Im certainly not at the 4 hour work week by any stretch however over the last few months I have consciously given up working at night and its starting to help my business grow.

I get up at 5am and work for a few hours but on the whole work a more structured work day, but when I calculate it I do work less and yet I am earning more.

What a phenomenon.

Maybe all these tips about being more organised, having a strategy and practicing good time management are true!

Anyone else uncovered this weird phenomenon?

    It's funny isn't it.

You work your tail off and then you finally realise you need to work smarter not harder.

I don't work as hard as I used to. I am better at what I do than in the past and I know what works and what doesn't that helps me to save time and only put in the essential time I need to get a good results.

Crazy that this is the case.

Here I have been working like a dog when I should have been taking more naps and enjoying myself and I could have started experiencing this earlier.

It's a shock but I am willing to ride with it.

ive given up on creating content every week for my baby shower site

cuz i realized that most of my traffic and conversions came from a few social media sites.

It comes with time though I reckon, you have to do the testing to know what works and what doesn't and seperate the clutter and once you know what the things that are the most beneficial for your business you can focus on them.

I took two weeks travelling to japan, and my amazon kindle and paperbacks shot up while we were away. Took another month to travel across europe in december, royalties were pouring in. Yes, working less can make you more profitable if you have already setup your passive income stream to run by itself.

But you must have worked more than normal hours ,while creating your books .Passive income has its own beauty ,but it takes lot of effort to create something like that and i guess everyone is not so lucky or talented to create such stuff .

      Thanks

Yes you're right, what i didn't tell you is that i have failed in internet marketing ,article marketing, affiliate marketing, blogging, facebook marketing, mlm, Itunes magazine publishing; i have tried doing Fiverr, writing freelance articles, trading my time for some money, from 2010 - 2013.

I started with only 3 books in the whole of 2013.

So no, I don't attribute this to luck and talent. I attribute this to brute resilience and persistence.

Im not selling anything here, so im not trying to brag, just trying to share my thoughts and get involve in the discussions.

I strongly believe that working with utmost concentration is what defines real "work."

Most of the times, we are working but we are actually not. Our thoughts are somewhere else. We are under constant distraction. This takes us from working "smarter" to working "harder".

Early morning is the best time of the day if you want longer attention spans.

May be, that's why it's working for you so well.

That could be true, the week I changed from working late into the night to first thing in the morning I quick noticed my productivity levels changing and my focus being shrper for longer stretches of time.

I can usually work for three solid hours without any interruption, no emails, no phone, no noise before anyone in my house even wakes up and then I break and reboot my brain and do another 3 hour stretch later .. .it's incredible what the change has been I actually feel like I have a clearer head and can work on more complex tasks whereas when I worked in the evening mistakes were more frequent and analysing anything of any real substance was really difficult.

This is really interesting and good to know. I think all in all its the quality of work not the quantity. You word harder and focus more in a shorter span of you, become just as effective.

a few sentences I can clear this up.

When I built a list, I went from living in my car, to working 2 hours a day, and making more than my family combined. Now they ask me if they can join my stuff, I say NO, because they were not there, in my darkest hour.

so build your list, its the best leverage you can use.

Think about anothy robbins, without a list, he has an empty auditorium, full of NO people.

with a list, he has chair full up, and people waiting outside, incase someone doesnt show.

Which would you want! the choice is up to you..... powerful right!? I know what i would want if I was anything robbins, and wanted to make $500,000 in a day. :-)

  • Bingoo... early to bed, early to wake up and with a brisk walk in the fresh early morning. I loved it personally... still do.

A well planned daily work schedule is one of the gift of entrepreneur. Its quote challenging at times but working hard will eventually lead to above.

      Hi Allan

Yes, in a way I have a more formalised process for delegating whereas before I was a little adhoc.

I have spent some time on my systems, briefed a VA and give her a bit more research work and overall I have a more streamlined approach that has more regularity to it.

I think before I used to jump all over the place and now I focus on task based actions and I will finish one completely before I move onto the next. I used to have two screens open at any one time and flicked between a whole heap and now I only have open what I need.

So, in short, yes I have a better system which appears to be working and saving me quite a few hours per week which I am very thankful for.

This, my friend, is exactly right.

It's amazing and honestly working less has been able to give me the clarity I was lacking and the enthusiasm I was lacking from working super long hours.

You can work your guts out day in day out and get good results and then cut back and work less and all of a sudden everything goes gangbusters.

It's awesome. Like I said, I am certainly not at the 4 hours work week stage but even a reduction in work and an increase in profitability is just fine for me.
