Think ONCE before you say NO. Think TWICE for YES.

I'm not sure if this is something my friend come up with or he borrowed it somewhere, but it's quite easy to remember and very important to apply:

"I may not know what I want, but I certainly know what I don't want."

Now, in my line of work and business, this moment of zen had to go through some adjustments. So, this is something I say to myself when I discuss our business with my partner and most importantly with companies willing to advertise on our radio:

"Think once when you have to say no, but think twice when you have to say yes."

Now, you may think that it should be the other way around. Yet, I strongly advise you to think twice about it. In the business world, "yes" carries a lot more weight compared to a simple "no." When you say yes, you oblige yourself to something. You accept a contract. You give a promise that you will do or pay something. So, you should think twice about it. On the other hand, with a quick and straightforward "no," you just eliminated another obstacle in your business. You decided not to work with a bad client. You turned down a contract, which isn't favorable to your interests.

My point is that we should act quickly and with no hesitation when we have to eliminate bad things and narrow our list of businesses or clients we're willing to accept. Then, we should take some extra time to decide whether or not it is worthy to give our final acceptance.

It's a simple strategy, so give it a try. Let me know does it work for you. Maybe you're doing it already. Either way share your thoughts. Thank you.
