My traffic really comes through three mediums:

Social Media

Mainly Twitter and Pinterest. This is for both new customers and those on my lists.

For new customers it's about getting my 'irresistible offer' in front of my target audience. Hashtags and influencers go a long way.

Mailing List

I run three email campaigns from my site. I have an opt in newsletter when you first visit the site. A cart abandonment sequence and a customer sequence.

I also follow on social media people on my list.

Referrals

Customers are incentivised to spread the world.

On top of that seo and ppc have smaller contributions. I'm a big believer in having multiple traffic methods that way if anything happens to one I still have traffic.

Traffic isn't worth anything unless it's TARGETED traffic. The best source for FREE TARGETED traffic is obviously Google. Create a content-rich website in a high traffic niche with low competition and build tons of backlinks.

Have to disagree on Google I find Social Media far better for free traffic. Google's slow and can be hit and miss.

On social media people are actually telling you what they like and others are saying 'yay I'm like her too'.

They herd together in social groups allowing a one to many approach.

I guess I'd rather be a hunter than sit outside and wait for my meal to come to me

Google is still the best source of free traffic. You simply have to follow SEO tips and you'll find your site getting thousands of traffic. And it is mostly logical as in the better your site SEO optimized, the greater the traffic you will get from search engine.
