Selling Ebooks vs. Audio books vs. Video books

I can see advantages to the consumer of buying both.

Lets face it, people are lazy. Reading takes a lot more effort than listening or watching which makes video and audio much more attractive.

Mobility is another benefit of audio. You can listen to an audio book in your car or wherever.

The benefit of ebooks is mainly for reference. You can do a quick search to find the info you want to review. You can't do that with video or audio as far as I know.

Seems to me like packaging them together for sale makes the most sense.

What's your opinion?

  • Audio is the easiest for YOU - use it first.

If it works well, THEN you can spend the time to write an eBook or whatever.

Video works good too - but can take more time depending on your experience level.

    • I'm using PLR so its really just a matter of an extra $17 to get the audio and video.

  • audiobooks have been growing fast and are definitely on trend IMO
  • There's a secret that people seemed to have overlooked.....

The secret is you don't need a FULL-BLOWN video or book or audio book.

    Real story.

People buy big products but only manage to consume 1/8th of the product

You've better off selling 'mini-products' in video form
  • By video-books you mean video courses? Or is there something I'm not aware of? (genuinely curious!)

    • If you take a written book and convert it into audio, its called an audio book. If you take that audio book and add powerpoint slides or other video, its called a video book.
  • Could you please provide a couple of examples of "video books"? Thank you.
  • Can recommend a website or software that provides text to speech and recording feature?
  • Why not sell all 3? I have a book on Amazon in all 3 formats. It started out as an ebook and then I added a paperback and now an audio version.

The great thing is if you hire a voice actor/actress from ACX, you can choose to do a 50/50 revenue share to limit your risk, rather than paying a flat fee, although you can do that as well. You would end up splitting 40% of the revenue from the sale of a book, so you would wind up with 20% of the profit.

  • Video seems to be the mainstay anymore. Of course the others have Utility in there own right. But I personally have been more inclined to buy and produce video related products anymore

  • I've recently added the audio book versions to my already published ebooks. Indeed, the sales of these audiobooks are growing each month.

  • this IS a marketing forum - right? You DO want to save as much time and money as possible - RIGHT?

Write a sales page for a GREAT audio recording. THEN - create the audio and put the sales page out there.

If it sells, send them the audio file.

If it sells A LOT - get it transcribed and add the eBook (maybe raise the price or add it as an OTO)

Doing things in this order will save you TONS of time and money.

No volume of marketing expertise can predict the questions you will soon have.
