Things to consider when gathering a survey!!
1. Keep yourself as brief as possible:
Guys its just a customer feedback survey not a patient response to a drug treatment. Keep it as concise as possible. The best way to approach this problem is to keep number of questions under five. It will keep the person on the other end interested and motivated enough to finish of the survey. There is no need to quantify each and every aspect of the customers response because our goal here is not to bore them but to get some credible data that could be used as an effective source for short term strategy derivation.
2. Offer some sort of incentive:
Its one of the proven methods to increase the response rates. Offer a free gift card, coupons or discount to attract people to fill up the surveys. Personally, I always do it for free airmiles.
3. Construct questions in a choice format:
No one likes to write lengthy answers for a question because seriously not a lot of people consider this as a better use of their time. So why make their lives difficult? Give them a yes or no based questions instead of questions that require long essays to be written.
4. Make your surveys aesthetically appealing:
A perfect layout of your survey embedded with images that project the theme of your business can really spice up the interest of the customer to fill up the survey. It tells that you are a professional in whatever you do and are not greedy to get the response at every cost. Therefore, try to make that whole experience interesting for your client. You can use Google forms or Survey Monkeys for this purpose as well. They have a pretty nice design layouts for different type of surveys.
5. Keep your questions organized:
Ask questions sequentially and go with the flow. For example, its a bad thing to ask right away about the defects of the product. Start with something positive and then eventually go towards things that are kind of harsh.
I hope it helps.
