Which is more important engaging content and content relevant to your business.

What do you guys value in content marketing; content that will engage and entertain your audience, or content that is relevant to your industry and will extol the value of your products or service.
Obviously content that does both is ideal, but it is usually quite rare. Most of the some level of crossover is usually attainable, but ideally how do you like the crossover to pan out, in favor of entertainment, or relevancy?

Content marketing is not always "entertaining" audience, but creating a useful content that is helpful to audience and they are forced to come back to read your content is more important which is nothing but engaging content.
Once you create a content on any topic in depth, covering all the aspects of the topic, it automatically becomes relevant, then you don't need to check for relevance, that is just perfect.

In my own experience, I have always considered engaging my targeted audience as the top priority when writing articles, within the constraints and expectations of the publishing medium. Specifics such as products and/or services are left for the funnel systems and other follow-up collateral.

Hey myob. Thanks a lot for the help. That sounds like a great approach. I think I'll try to implement that myself. Thanks again.

That's like asking, Which is more important for running, your left foot or your right foot.

In other words, not only are they not mutually exclusive but they are necessary in the same piece. Yes, you could be writing about die casting, which would bore the pants off me, no matter what, but it can be done in an engaging manner for someone interested in die casting.

If I were a purchaser of die casting products, you'd want me engaged and, if you want me to buy, it better be about something relevant.

You seem to think engaging and entertaining are the same. They are not. You can have engaging without entertaining.

Engage with relevant content; skip the entertaining and you're good to go.

Hi Dabk. Thanks for your help and for the fantastic analogy. I guess you are right, I need to work harder to ensure that my content ticks both boxes going forward. Thanks and best of luck.
