JV Optins, how do the guru's do it ?

So we all see the product launches offered by the Gurus, now most of these emails just send me from one aweber list to the other.

What I was wondering was how are they tracking who the optin came from in this case. I have set up an aweber account and I can see I can do ad tracking etc, but I can't figure out when I optin on one these lists, how they track who's list i came from.

My interest is more that I am trying to understand how a JV is tracked . I understand a normal affiliate link to product page, and how that is easy enough to track, but I am at a loss to know how an email via aweber from Guru A, sending me to Guru B's squeeze page and optin list is tracked.

Is it just they agree among themselves, you promote me, and i promote you ?

I know they all claim to be big buddies of each other, but I am sure the $ is in there somewhere

Anyone know the answer ?

Thanks

Kev

    Hi Kev,

Sometimes they may do adswaps without affiliate links but I think the norm is that the "guru's" leads are tracked and commissions are paid on any sales.

It works in the same way whether you send someone to a landing page or a squeeze page via email or a website link. Each affiliate has a unique affiliate link and anyone that they refer leaves that affiliate's "cookie" on the sales site, whether it's a landing page or squeeze page.

This cookie tracks everything that the affiliate's referrals do, including any purchases they make.

    Hope this makes sense.

      Hi John,

I think so !. So basicly there code is tracked from the awber link, and then should I buy at the time of the launch, it will confirm it to affiliate and product owner when I end up on the confirmation page at the end of the transaction.?
