I don't think he's defending him, per se, just simply pointing out that we were all newbies at one time or another and none of us knew everything right from the beginning. Also, everyone makes mistakes along the way.

That said, I'm getting the vibe from this thread that it was only created for one purpose, and that is signature promotion. I came to this conclusion by looking at the OP's prior threads/posts.

I think it's likely that the "first sale" that is being spoken about (if it's real), is a commission from the product that is being pre-sold in the OP's sig link.

If this is true, I think that the OP is not as much of a newbie as some people think. While the OP is certainly not a professional by any means, I think it's safe to say that he knows right from wrong in this case. It's certainly not right to create a false "first sale" thread for the sole purpose of promoting a signature link.

On the other hand, anyone who would do so and consider it a valid and ethical way to promote a product must have very little knowledge about how real affiliate marketing should be done. That, or the person isn't interested in promoting ethically.

I'm not sure what the deal is here, but it looks shady to me.

That said, everybody starts somewhere, but now that the OP has been told that this is not actually ethical, maybe the OP will change his signature link and not continue to abuse the forum like this anymore. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
