Marketing to Scientific Niche

My gf is starting a new job at a biomedical instruments company selling research laboratory equipment (microscopes and analyzers). Selling to scientists is a whole different playing field than your average B2C consumers. Scientists often have to provide proposals to their lab managers (who often knows little about science equipments) and traditionally been dominated by dealers.

I want to help her dominate this field using the power of internet marketing. I doubt that these infographic, artistic style stuff would work in this niche as scientists are more logical minded.

Any tips on how to get started?
How would you dominate this rather elusive niche?

Sorry to say you are on a hiding to nothing here , most of the sales are done by B2B BDMs in the field and not by IM at all

And the second part of the problem is dealing with the big boys who are employed the companies to lobby on there behalf

And the last part is the procurement dept the ones who give the ok to purchase the product

My partner is a Microbilogist so I know how the process works!

Yes as said above there are many middlemen so the traditional affiliate cookie commission thing wouldn't really work.

It could work as a drop shipping site though, but you'd have to guarantee product quality, especially in the medical niche.

you need to get your company certified as a preferred vendor and you will make alot of sales. i am also scientist and we can not buy anything from a non preferred vendor if they were alot cheaper.
