How do you deal with people copying?

Sounds very sad to hear.The reality is we dont have anything to deal completly with copying contents and stealing others ideas .what we can do is to a certain extent we can avert it.for example google alert,copyscape.googlewebmaster tool DMCA complaints,whoishostingthis.this might help you.i repeat this helps only to a cetain extent.all the best for your next articles

Copying content from other resources or competitors is not good practice to do.
You can check content using copyscape to make sure someone else have copied your content, to prevent your content from being copied you can use DMCA certificate in your website.
You can complaint the culprit using DMCA request, email for abuse to hosting service providers. Email to the owner of website.

No it won't. Did you read the OP? There is no DMCA violation.

As I said in your other thread, there are plenty of great businesses that had their concepts stolen and did just fine.

McDonald's started fast food. How many other fast food chains do we have today? Yet, McDonald's is going just fine.

Jane Fonda more or less invented the home workout video. How many followed?

You can either keep focusing on this and whining about others or figure out how to do what you are doing better.

I understand how people feel when their content is copied and used by others.I myself would feel very bad if I were to ever find myself in such situation. But I am trying to look at this whole question of copying from another angle: Didn't civilisation prosper, flourished and was transformed into its present state as a result of people copying from one another? I am also thinking about the word "Pioneer"- what does it really mean?

The thing is, yes, copying up to a certain extent can be productive, but there is an ethical way to do this. For instance, when I gather information from a site and it helps me write an article, adding reputable information to it, I place it as a reference and link back to the article as a way to thank the author for sharing his knowledge.
Not many people seem interested nowadays in doing this sadly. Instead, they want to appear as if they have come up with all the ideas and take full credit for it. Not fair at all.

Well, there is actually a way: awareness. If people are made more aware about copyright infringements, there are chances this will occur less. Many people do not know that paraphrasing without citing the sources is not only a form of plagiarism but also copyright infringement. I worked for several companies providing content and know some writers were fired for infringing the intellectual property of others.

Many are not aware that it's still copyright infringement when people re-word articles and therefore it's still a form of plagiarism. I just wished that bloggers and article writers were more aware of this and learned how to properly cite references.

I'd focus on selling your expertise... whether it is a video, audio or PDF....

One of the most interesting things I read was written by Bob Bly a while back... He wrote that he was posting tons of free information online... and making very few sales on his paid products... Once he switched from free content to mostly paid products, he started making a lot more money.

In the end, I'd suggest using Jimmy D. Brown's method of giving away "useful but incomplete information" and selling the rest.

You might not like it but that's actually the way business goes online or offline. A hot product comes out in the stores or on some TV informercial, and then you'll see several other companies pop up with their own version of the product with few tweaks added. This has been fair game for years offline. Guess it's no different online.

Most you can do is file a DMCA take notice or complain to hosting companies if the content is just obviously without a shadow of a doubt a copy. Otherwise, if it's revised to a certain degree, then it's really not much you can do other than maybe using a content protection plugin or some type of shield over your content that makes it had for people to copy it. Also you can add your links throughout the article (also some unlinked and some brand mentions), so that if someone blatantly copies your content, they'll also be promoting your content at the same time! :-)

What you're experiencing is bound to increase no thanks to web scraping. With AI and machine learning forging ahead, unethical people validate scraping as part of the "training" process. So if I were you, I'd start looking into ways to block the it. Fortunately, most scrapers are bots, and they can be stopped via .htaccess. Other drastic steps might require firewalling, captcha-ing, and password protecting.

What I would personally do!
- Bomb them with bad links
- report them as spam
- make a page/create a black list that cite's them all as un-credible sources
- tell all of my visitors not to visit them

if anything by telling your trusted visitors that these sources are stealing your content and rehashing them..it will solidify rapport with them..stop being passive, just dominate!!

I don't tend to worry about it so much these days. A couple of years ago somebody cloned my entire forum, but the fools at Google didn't think this was a breach of copyright.

It's easier if you have an actual service (such as a membership site). So move beyond blogging and into offering useful services, YouTube channels etc. etc.

Unfortunately copying is something that is done in every field, from music to programming, to internet marketing. It's important to focus on what value you bring to your web visitors and accumulate a loyal customer base through the attraction of your content that only you can offer rather than focusing on creating content that can easily be copied. I understand your frustration. The same has happened to me and it can be quite disheartening.

It does bother me from time to time, but then I just focus on doing what I'm doing and making sure I'm doing it better than the copycats.

I'll still contact them to encourage them to reference the source, but unfortunately, I can't force them.

You just got to keep doing your thing.

IMO, it's hard but try to ignore it and just keep pumping out quality content.

In the past I've seen many people become obsessed with people copying them (sometimes they didn't even copy) and they started to focus so much on that that they stopped putting the time into their own sites and just focused on the others and it slowly pushed them out of business.

Technically you won't be able to stop people from copying since anyone can copy content over the web.

I have had many of my articles copied over the years. It just doesn't bother me anymore.

I guess some things are just out of your control.

As someone who has done web scraping and talked to web scrapers, blatant content copying of single articles is pretty bold. There are lots of ways to pull content, combine it, edit it, and cite it and still get the linkjuice and the seo boost. But, it takes more time.

I don't think you'll be able to get it taken down.

Sorry to hear you've been plagiarized in this way. If it's a regular problem, then it sounds like you will be best to either create a membership site with some info that's public, and some that's private. But this might not work for how you plan to monetize. What's the goal of your site?

It's a really hard ( next to impossible ) thing to stop.
There is no "one" answer, it really is a case by case problem to deal with.
There are software applications that make submitting DMCA notices one click.
That's a help. I use one that is PHP software and submits the link and info,
notice to right links, very fast, one click. Has a login control panel on my hosting account. I bought it off another warrior here in WSO section.

One could take the guerrilla approach. They are probably consuming your feed, not your web page, yes? Disable new articles from your feed for awhile. Or publish bogus stuff in your feed. You can post something bogus, then one day later retract it. Doubt they will pick up on the retraction once they copied the article. You could do things like that and it may annoy them and not consider your stuff reliable anymore
