How long did it take until you turned a profit?

Regardless of what you do: IM, MLM, Affiliate Marketing ect.. how long did it take you before you actually turned a profit? Meaning made your initial investment back and still had money?

        I believe that it is normal to lose in the beginning especially the first couple months because based off many newbies experiences they're looking from the perspective that you can "get rich quick" from doing the bare minimum when it's so many factors that you have to consider and learn. 6 months to a year is a learning process in my belief..

        I believe I went wrong when I stayed with one strategy for so long instead of finding another strategy. I had to change my mindset behind why I was doing it and get focused. Learn where your strengths are and start there and from there how can you merge whatever specific sector you decide (IM, MLM, affiliate marketing, etc) with that to be successful. It is a journey not a sprint but you can be successful.

          About 20 years ago, I paid almost $10,000 for a 3-day intensive IM course upon the strong recommendation of my MLM sponsor.

          It took just two months to turn a profit, and is to this day the fundamental basis of the training which I offer to my MLM recruits.

              It was a live 3-day seminar with the late Corey Rudl (Internet Marketing Secrets). It is the basic core of what I still teach my MLM downline, with similarly spectacular results.

    I started internet marketing in December of 2002. Took me 5 YEARS to make any money let alone a profit. Yes, it took me that long.

    Most people quit after 5 days. That is the sad part.

    Without much experience it took around half a year. Mainly because I didn't commit much when I was losing money so the process took longer.

    Now that I have over 9 years of experience under my belt I can generally get a campaign into profit within a week if results are good.

    I like that the majority of people are actually saying how long it took - a few months seems very realistic.

    Too many times I see, "Make this much money in one day!"

    It's a grind and it doesn't happen overnight.

    This isn't your normal story, but I started in 2008 and was profitable the first week I launched my affiliate campaign. I did thorough research, made everything look great, borrowed and invested my first $150 into Google AdWords, and started making commissions right away. I grossed over $650 in revenue my first week (from that $150 in advertising alone) which allowed me to pay back the investor and reinvest. I did research daily and was building my site for about four weeks, so if you start it there, it took me four to five weeks to be profitable.

    The first thing I ever did was write a software and sold it as a WSO. I got a sale the first day. It took me about 2 weeks to write the software.

      The first 6 months I tried to promote my own product but it didn't worked very well.

      So I started promoting affiliate products and that was a huge success for me.

    10 years ago, I build my own website providing free tools. The investment was minimal ( domain and hosting gift from a friend ). I invested a lot of time to promote the website. Made few dollars from adsense in the first few months. After about 6-8 months, started to make hundreds of dollars. I think it can be considered profit. The amount might look small, not I am making a lot more from it. This is why you need patience. I have a lot of friends who tried and quit in less than 6 months while making few hundred of dollars per month. They completed the first step, getting it to make some money, and instead of trying to get it further, they quit. Some of them tried again and again. Same story every time.

    If you want make some good money then first of all you should start getting the attention of people. That's how everything starts. If you work every day and if you work hard enough in the different sectors which are needed to rank up your website then you will be earning money in no time. But by no time i mean a few months or so . But you shouldn't lose hope you should always fight with what you have!

    To be honest, I do not have a definite answer to this one.

    I will say it depends on you as in how much time and effort are you willing to put into your business everyday until you ACTUALLY made profits.

    Great question The first thing that I done was to stop spending any money. That was a plus for me. But I was making small amounts $5 every now and again. It took about 2+ years before I could say I was making money regular. I started with Video Marketing and Affiliate Marketing now I also make my own products I am happy just plodding along But the key is to not give in.

    I started back in 2001, I am part of the "Rich Jerk" era when we had just good old Google Ads as our main PPC platform. I'd say I started making money within my first month, it was easy to rank on Google back then, after mastering the skills needed I was making decent profits within the first year.

    Many peoples issues though is getting the right mind set, its easy to follow steps from A to B but it's not so easy to look at what you do as a genuine business and to treat it as such.

    So after few years doing affiliate marketing I kinder fell back into my old 9 till 5 job, was only till I took it seriously that things really took off.

    I made a profit of $1200 in my first month on RentACoder.com back in 2009. I consider that a stroke of luck since I had no idea what I was doing.

    It took me 3 months. Cost was $500 and made a tinsy winsy commission of $50 after selling 2 of these puppies.

    This was back in 2006 and I made this fifty bucks using Microsoft Ad Center now called Bing.

    However I don't think any of the info that you get on this post will do you any good.

    It took me a couple months to realize "Oh shit you can actually make money online!"

    So I put some Adsense ads on my blog one day and made a total of .30 cents.

    12 year old me was super happy at the time... and that was all I needed to fall in love with IM.

    It actually depends on what business model you are in. If you are selling on Amazon or eBay, you'll make money straight away if you have good products to offer. If your are selling other people's products through affiliate marketing, it might take a bit longer to see the money rolling in. However, if you have just created a blog or website that relies on income through Google Adsense, Chitika, Amazon Ads, etc. it might take months or even years or could be forever depends on your traffic and as we all know, targeted traffic in internet marketing is just like gold - precious but rare.
