Paydotcom or Clickbank, which is the best?!

Hi All,

Jim Tyler here, recently joined Warrior Forum after hearing rave reviews.

I've heard mixed reports of both Paydotcom and Clickbank, just wondered if anyone had experience of one or both and what opinions anyone might have?

Cheers

Jim

Both are good, I use both

With paydotcom you can get your sales/commissions paid to your paypal account
where as with clickbank it takes longer to get your sales/commissions as you have to
wait for them to send you a cheque.

With regards to the bank account.. do they allow international banks (outside the US)?

          • Canada
          • France
          • Germany
          • Hong Kong

For countries not on this list you can have the money wire transferred for a fee of $35. For more info just go to CB and search for 'direct deposit'.

Here is what I can tell is the main difference between PDC and Clickbank and that is the vendor features.

In Clickbank, you pretty much can't do upsells or variable commissions on each of your products.

I know they have a one click upsell feature, but you need to have some ridiculous sale volume before you can ever access it. I think it's something like 5,000 sales total.

With PDC, you can easily implement upsells and you can do different commission payouts for each of your products.

With paydotcom you're reliant on the vendor to pay you, unlike the automated payments you get through Clickbank.

With Clickbank you get paid directly into your own bank account (after your first three cheques) and can set your own minimum payment threshold (at any level you like above $10 per fortnightly pay-period). Clickbank also have notoriously unreliable affiliate-tracking and lamentable customer service, but they have some good, marketable products with high commissions, and many advantages, too.
You are right! Anyway there isn't much difference between both but clickbank restrict publishers to join it from some countries but paydotcom accepts most of them.

I opted for Clickbank but might add PayDotCom at some point so that I can have a shopping cart option and sell multiple items on one page more easily.

If you are a publisher ( you want to sell your own product) and if you are new to all this, then I highly recommend using clickbank to start off with.

There is very little hassle, it's a quick way to market, and there are lots of affiliates there looking for good products with good sales pages to promote.

I dis-like paydotcom because it involves paypal. I have seen the merry dance they have led a few marketers on, and I am scared whitless of putting my financial future in paypal's hands.

      • think this article explains thediffrences very well:

A lot of marketers who are creating products for the first time are having a hard time deciding between hosting their product with Clickbank or with PayDotCom. Well, there is good and bad to both of these companies and unfortunately, there is no perfect solution. This article is going to point out the major differences between going with Clickbank or PayDotCom. Hopefully, after reading this, you'll have a better idea of which direction you want to go in.Clickbank is without a doubt the bigger of the two companies. There is no question here. They are the king of the affiliate marketplace. Because of this, by posting your product there, you will get the benefit of an army of affiliates to help you promote it. This is a very key benefit to going with Clickbank. Another great benefit is that you don't have to pay your affiliates. Clickbank does that for you. So that's a load off of your mind.
The downsides of Clickbank are few, but they do exist. The first one, and one many complain about, is their no questions asked refund policy. A person doesn't even have to give a valid reason for requesting a refund. It is simply granted. Because people know this, there are some out there who take advantage of this policy. Another problem with Clickbank is that they allow affiliates to purchase from their own links, thus taking commissions away from the person who rightfully should have earned it.
PayDotCom, on the other hand, does not allow affiliates to purchase using their own links, which is a big incentive for affiliates to want to go with PayDotCom for promoting products. They know their commissions are safe. However, there is more work to do from the standpoint of the vendor because PayDotCom does not pay commissions like Clickbank does. Each vendor is responsible for paying affiliates himself. So this is more work for the vendor.
Probably the biggest problem for the vendor with PayDotCom is that they simply don't have the affiliate base that Clickbank has, so you're not going to get as many affiliates promoting your product as you would with Clickbank. This means fewer sales for you by going with PayDotCom.
As you can see, there is no perfect solution to this question. Each company has its good and bad points. Personally, I go with Clickbank because I don't have the time to pay each affiliate myself. I like that Clickbank handles that. Plus, I like that Clickbank does give me more traffic because of its larger affiliate base.
Ultimately, the decision is yours. I hope, however, this article has alerted you to the pros and cons of each company so that you can make an informed decision.

Thanks for the information everybody, some really useful stuff there.

It seems CB might be the best place to start.

I've also heard of HighProfits affiliate program - has anyone heard of that one, i think it's newer than the others?

PS Alexa, great use of the word 'lamentable' ;-)

I've tried CB, PDC and e-junkie. With PDC and e-junkie I had very few affiliates promoting my product. As soon as I put it on CB, I had a whole list of affiliates instantly! If you have a new product, then I think CB is the clear choice as you'll get more affiliates and traffic right away. I think that's the bottom line.

For the love of the influx of mega torrents of affiliates, its CLICKBANK hands down, pants down.

PDC, well, I have seen better sites. That's the most diplomatic response I have.

i like paydotcom because you can customize the pay portal... although clickbank has a WAY better affiliate basis so if you are doing affiliate marketing it is not even close

Hey, glad to find this forum! I would have to go with ClickBank first also.

  • I've only recently started using Paydotcom, but so far they seem to have it all over Clickbank. Everything gets tracked properly and you don't have to wait for your money.

That being said, I still use Clickbank only because they have some excellent products that I love promoting.

I've had more success with Clickbank. Was your question regarding being an affiliate, vendor, or both. I've been a clickbank affiliate for the past few years but just recently signed up as a Clickbank vendor to launch my new website.

Clickbank hands down however its not ideal. If I have my way I'll use e-junkie but it's more work to secure affiliate, you'll get much more affiliates promoting your product if its listed on CB.

I would highly recommend Clickbank just because of their huge affiliate base and the net work that they have in the marketplace.
