How Much to Charge For Upsell?

If your main product is $47, how much would you charge for an upsell - is there a hard and fast rule?

Does it always have to cost less than the main product or can it cost more if there is a significant discount on the upsell product?

Thanks

The answer to your first question is impossible to answer blind.
What extra value does the upsell provide?

The answer to the second question is "no".
Typically with a tripwire funnel, an upsell is charged at a higher price point that the front end product.

It doesn't have to be that way, though. The upsell could be an upgrade and could be just a way of increasing the profit of the front end product.

At the end of the day...you get to make your own rules.

Sometimes I will go against the grain and people will argue tooth and nail against me but I have actually regressed and gone backwards and had a small "complimentary" product to the main one for $17 or $27.

Typically though most go to $97 from $47.

My upsells always cost more, like 2x-5x the main product price.

A $47 front end buyer is much different than a $5 front end buyer and you'd be surprised at how much they'd be willing to spend with you.

All comes down to testing though, change things up and see which set up yields the best EPCs (Earnings Per Click)
