How do I market books that I've written?

by wartest 19 replies
It seems that many people don't like to read books in this era. People are more focused with social media, Movies, TV shows, and video games. How would I market my books to people who actually enjoy to read?

To be honest book sales have been going up. People still like to read and now they have more ways to read.

Check out promo venues like eBookDiscovery.com, eReaderNewsToday, BookBub and FussyLibrarian. I use them all the time. There are others, but these earn-out most often. eBookDiscovery and BookBub have the highest rate of return on investment.

If you produce fiction books try wattpad. Serialize your stuff and use the first installation as a brand magnet to get a following going.

    You're asking the wrong question.

The right question is "what problems do my books solve and where are the people who have these problems?".

As far as reading is concerned, there are more people reading now than at any point in the history of humankind. Amazon made that happen.

As others have said or inferred E-books have been making somewhat of a comeback in last 18 months probably with the proliferation of Kindle reading

What type of book did you write? Would very many people be interested in the subject?

Are these physical books? ebooks? amazong kindle books? etc?

I think you may have answered your own question, if people are focused on social media, movies, tv shows and video games - advertise there. Maybe movies, tv shows and video games are out of the question, but social media shouldn't be. You should be able to find your audience on there and market to them.

i thin a lot of people still read books. They just read eBooks now instead or hard copy books. So i think the first thing for you to do is to turn it into an eBook and advertise it through social media pages, forums blogs, stc.

I also love writing and I wonder how I can promote my writings. I read about finding literary agents, but don't you think that would be a bit far fetch for someone who hasn't built a name for herself? Well, I thought of participating in writing competitions. You know, just try to break in.... for starters. It's tough making your own product and promoting them all by yourself. Yikes.

Is it something that is targeted towards younger generation? You could try using Instagram.

Get some professional covers done, use it to promote it. But you will also need to make sure you have other interesting images to spark interest.

Not everyone reads paper books. You might try looking for a forum that specifically deals with books, book clubs and the like, If you go digital there are lots of marketing tools available from Amazon. I have stuff published on the Kindle myself. It is easy to get it published. The hard work is still marketing. I would look for facebook groups or forums dealing with your genre.

Publish it to Amazon, like Kindle? As long as your book is good and resolve real problems, I am sure people is going to buy it.

I assume your books are Nonfiction? Amazon is where you will find many of the "readers." So, I would definitely recommend posting at least some of your books on Kindle. You can have a signup link in the back of your book to get email subscribers.

If you opt out of KDP Select(Amazon's exclusivity program) then you can sell the same book on both Amazon and your own website. KDP Select has its advantages, if you're willing to put up with the exclusivity.

Other than that, you might want to consider repurposing your content. There is a lot of reading that is done outside of books. For example, blog posts, website articles, etc. You could take a Nonfiction book and break it up into a bunch of blog posts.
