Marketing affiliate gambling sites

Has anyone have any experience with promoting gambling/bookmaker websites?

I am thinking of setting up a site related to horse racing and then advertising sitter bookmaker websites onto them in the hopes to get the revshare return when they sign up and make deposits.

There are quite a few sites offering around 30% each month on of what the punter gambles with. Has anyone had much luck with making much money out of advertising such schemes?

Looking forward to anyones experiences or opinions.

I have a friend who's heavy in the online gambling niche. He's not a online marketer however, he works full time for a marketing company for a gambling software company. Gambling is a tricky criteria because it has a bunch of emotions about money attached to it, and to the wrong people it can be extremely bad for their reputation by involving themselves in it.

Having said that however, I'm sure there are affiliate programs for gambling websites if you look hard enough, but I don't think you'll get that many replies for marketing related topics on this website. Better use this site to get marketing ideas and then translate that over to a discussion topic in gambling specific websites. Just my 2 cents. Wish you luck!

Without knowing reputable bookmakers and reliable affiliate programs, everything will be a lot more difficult for you in the gambling business. Each bookmaker has its own weaknesses and strengths, so it is very important to know where to send your traffic. Places you should stay away from are the ones that do not pay customers, offer crappy services, do not honor affiliate agreements or trick around when it comes to the calculation of commissions. Besides this there are many other thing you need to be aware of.

Let me know in case you need help selecting a good program and I will try to point you in the right direction.

Gambling is a huge area of Affiliate marketing. There are a number of networks that deal exclusively with gambling and betting clients. The main issue is the massive amount of competition and the strict rules regarding paid advertising in certain countries.

If you can find a good niche in the industry there is a lot of money to be made, but it is a very saturated marketplace. If you want to succeed you will need to do something to stand out from the crowd and to differentiate yourself from the competition.

I would advise you to do some research. You may just find that a number of people are doing exactly what you are thinking of doing. Look at what they are doing well and what they are doing badly. Replicate the best bits and don't fall for the mistakes. If you do everything better than the competition and promote effectively then you could be onto a winner. If you fail to research fully and offer something that is not as good as what is already available then you could be wasting your time.

If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail.

    Hi,
This is an area i have personal experience in. When i first started marketing online in 2001, i tried 2 different niches. One was internet marketing and the other was gambling sites as an affiliate. I failed at both horribly! But since you asked about the Gambling site, i'll just focus on that for this reply.
I created a really nice looking site with lots of free info and an optin page and a side bar optin option too.
I spent money on adwords, I blogged and submitted articles to the then popular ezine articles and many other article directories. i even did SEO. After 6 months of doing this, i made a total of ZERO.

I am not sure where i went wrong, but i believe the competition was just too strong for me and my budget. If you ask me, i still think it's too strong, but i do wish you success if this is the niche you go into.

I should say, that even though i failed at the above 2 niches in the beggining, i did find success eventually. Not in the gambling niche but in health and internet marketing.

    To your success,
    Pam Trivedi

@pam2011 I am sorry to say, but you must have done quite some wrong if you tried SEO and made $0 after 6 months. I figure you meant to say 2011 though.
