Flippa Alternative?

OK, old news we were all a little upset the way Sitepoint changed to Flippa, there were negatives and positives, but i think the negatives out weighed the positives.

A lot of users was not happy, myself being one of them.

I could not find a replacement, DigitalPoint was full of scams, Flippa was just too expensive, I even thought about setting up my own!

But i came across LazyRevenue.com - Buy & Sell Websites | Recent Auctions

I registered and signed up "as you do" when you see something new. You get $25 free credits for auctions on signup which caught my eye, i made an auction and within a day it was sold.

The traffic will not be as good as Flippa, but it works and is safe and secure.

I want your thoughts on this as i was wondering, what would it really take to kind of take over the flipping "Market" is Flippa too powerful?

And would it be a waste of time making a marketplace website.

Look forward to your replies.

  • Interesting site, it might go places when it is well established.
I clicked on recently sold button and found nothing there!
So I presume it is a brand new site.

    • It looks good but personally I wouldn't deter much away from Flippa for the time being.

When selling a website the main thing is getting it infront of as many interested buyers as possible and in most circumstances that means Flippa.

I would agree that sometimes certain types of websites sales could do better in places such as the WSO complete site section as there's a proven community of buyers of the types of sites being sold in there
  • That's true there is an established set of buyers at Flippa, but if you read their blog with user feedback they have had a lot of bad press. There are literally hundreds of people complaining about their changes. I personally totally agree and have not seen any benefit in the move to Flippa.

I think I might have to buck the trend and support a relatively small site. After all, every forum/marketplace/site had to start somewhere and they seem to have got off on the right track. Customer service is spot on too which is always a huge pull for me. So agreed, lazyrevenue.com/marketplace may be new, but for now I'm going to give them a chance

They have a huge amount of bad press and it continues. Their latest blog post is just another example of how out of tune they are with their customers. They have now changed the trust rating system to include points for connecting Flippa to your Facebook account. They also plan on adding other social networks to this trust rating.

Anyone with half a brain can see what this is leading to, and it has nothing to do with trust. Being connected to Facebook via Flippa gives them an opportunity, if you don't actively prevent it with privacy settings, to exploit their customers social networks.

They also have a Tweet this Auction link to infiltrate Twitter with Flippa spam, as if Twitter doesn't already have enough spam.

I have no intention of connecting my Facebook acct or any other social network acct to my Flippa acct and I do not use, or want to use Facebook or Twitter to promote my auctions and Flippa.

When Flippa moved from Sitepoint and most were angry and unimpressed with the new site, sitedeal.org emerged. NO LISTING FEES and very well run. In my book, it's a great alternative to Flippa and only needs to gain momentum.

  • Seems like the price for all the sites at Flippa have doubled or tripled compared to when it was part of SitePoint. Add to that the 5% fee with option to push that on a buyer. Defnitely not a good place to shop if you are a buyer.
  • Customers feed back towards flippa is good. This attracts other quality customers who come forward to buy websites.Flippa might not have worked out for you,but it is a great place where many deals take place...And let me try with lazyrevenue as you said :-)
  • Flippa is on its way out if they don't change it back thats for sure.
  • Flippa Alternative?? THERE AINT ONE!
  • If you are unhappy with Flippa I can suggest you list your websites on FlipitFlat.com - Buy and Sell websites

It's a brand new marketplace but totally free at the moment.

    • There is an alternative to Flippa, it is called dannotrade.com, zero success fees and free to post auctions forever. Please check us out.
  • I alway find the one with the monopoly,

more traffic more chances of success.
  • I think it would be hard to take over Flippa because it has so much authority and has been around for quite some time making it estalished. It would be too hard to beat out site like Flippa and it would cost alot of money which will be a waste. I personally think Flippa is the best for selling and buying sites in my experiece, it recieves tons of traffic every day and it's going to be around for long.
  • i hate flippa...............
    i hate when they keep adding time whenever someone bids. it defeats the concept of an auction::::::::::::::::::::::;
auction means highest bidder in a set amount of time, but i know they do it because they make more money from it.
i wish there was an alternative.....

    • I gotta disagree with you there. Yes, auction does mean "highest bid in a set amount of time." But, they always give other people a chance ("going once.. going twice..") to top it. Flippa explains why it does it. Read it and you'll see the fairness in it.
