How I Get Started Online?

Although I have been a Warrior since 2009, I have not properly introduced myself.

Ironically, I got started posting in the Products Reviews And Ratings section either positive or negative feedback on the products mentioned. Sometimes, I will ask questions as well.

I got started in July 2008.

However I was not new to internet. In fact I already got started surfing online in 2000 to look for jobs after getting fired from my last. I only came to know that I can make money online 8 years later besides just connecting and communicating with people.

To be honest, I never wanted to be an internet marketer let alone an entrepreneur.

My real ambition was and still is to be an author. After my last science-fiction and fantasy novels got rejected by local publisher, I went online to search for fresh new ideas and that was how I stumbled upon the idea of making money online by accident.

The very first program I joined was email processing. According to that program, you get paid $25 for every email you processed.

But it turns out to be the same as most MLM or Multi-Level Marketing programs I joined as my task is to send the same email I received and became attracted to sign up.

To a safelists of people signing up and becoming interested in Work From Home and Home Based programs.

If any of those people I emailed signs up like me for $25, I get paid $15 and merchant got the balance as over-riding commissions.

So in essence, there is nothing substantial in value but just recommending that program to get paid.

The second and third programs I joined are Work-From-Home Data Entry. While the second is a scam that requires me to blast the email like email processing, the third one is what REALLY makes me money.

This program is called My-Data-Team which teaches me about promoting other people's products and services besides just promoting their program.

It is from that program that I got to learn online marketplaces and affiliate networks like Amazon, Clickbank and Paydotcom.

Most importantly how I actually made money by placing ads both free and paid ones like classified advertising and Google Adwords.

Eventually I scaled up to $1600 upon my attempts in Google Adwords.

Back then, I did not know or even hear about email marketing and list building.

However, two things happened which forced me to give up my internet business momentarily and look for a real job.

One is because of my dad's deteriorating conditions physically and mentally. He was into depression after losing money during Global Financial Crisis and was given 6 months to live upon being diagnosed with liver cancer late stage.

Something which I don't like to talk much about since this is my family affair.

Two is because my Google Adwords account got slapped due to placing affiliate links.

When I first made my money online, I only KNEW how to place ads but I don't know how to build a website. And the ONLY way for me to survive let alone continue in this business is to learn how to build a website.

Last but not least, I needed a good coaching program to show me what it takes to build a real legitimate business online.

Not just sell for the sake of making money but to provide what people need and want and in the process improving their lives, getting them to like, trust and buy from me as well as recommending to their families and friends as well.

Long story short, even though I think I knew, the truth is I knew absolutely NOTHING about setting up my online business the right way.

However things changed when I met my compatriot and super affiliate Ewen Chia at the Internet Marketing seminar preview.

Although I got started marketing online in 2008, he is the one who showed me the way to affiliate marketing a year later.

Despite what others might say about him whether good or bad.

It is also through subscribing to his list I got to know other marketers and joined their programs as well.

    Hey Amuro,
Thanks for your personal story and journey
I have enjoyed your interaction and contribution in the last few years.

Any more specifics about Ewen and what you have done would be cool as well

    Amuro,

The past is the past. You've been hanging around online activities and methods for many years . . . but you haven't given any evidence that you've ever pursued your "real ambition" of being an author.

Why don't you put an end to all your dabbling in assorted make money schemes (nothing that you're tried seems to be a legitimate business) and focus on your writing. Develop a plan for how you're going to get paid and begin executing.

There is a copywriting section in this forum (go here) that might be a good place to begin. See how others are earning from their writing and find something that you enjoy doing and can also get paid for doing.

Focus on the long term goals you have as an author. Put blinders on and don't be distracted by all the other ways to earn money. Take control of your own pathway to a writing career.

The time for exploring and learning about the various ways to make money online is past for you. Decide what you're going to do and go all in.

    The best to you,

    Steve

      Hi Amuro,

Yes - a long story short.

      Two points:

      1. I support Steve B's comment about really identifying YOUR personal goal and actively pursuing it.

      2. I think you missed out on joint venture partnerships and online marketing of "big ticket" items.

Steve, I am relating my story of how I got started online to get fellow warriors to know me better.

If you cannot agree and accept what I posted, that is entirely your opinion.

Nothing really beats having your own business. By signing up with any of the "big" online sites, you have to give away any profit you make. Be your own master!

Well, welcome back. The only pieces of advice I can offer are those you can start developing today:
FOCUS: Avoid the "Shiny Stuff" (and it IS tempting) every new software, training, and launches that never end, LOL...focus,
COMMIT: Give a task, product, program at least 30-45 days
    FINALLY FORGIVE YOURSELF.
...No, REALLY forgive yourself--if you don't know, you just don't; But NOW, that you know better just do better and DO. NOT. STOP.
